  • That's what she said...

  • I saw them in 1996 at a tiny venue next to a porn store! in tempe Arizona, Crispin signed 3 of my CD's and drew a penis on one of them!!! they were just amazing

  • this is and always will be one of the best albums ever to come out of the brit scene, easily on par if not above radioheads the bends, unforgettable in every respect. . .

  • Listening sixteen years in a row...

  • 2012 and this tune is still as fresh as it ever was!

  • ... My mum went out with the drummer :D

  • Reminds me of TFI friday before going out, great times

  • Yayyy! I am.......top band

  • thumbs if you're still listening to it in 2011

  • They played "On & On" on Richard and Judy... Stopped Richard punching for a fortnight or so I'm sure... Nice sound.

  • Decent song, crap name for a band.

  • I had the immense pleasure of supporting these in my band marmalade sun. They were amazing songwriters.

  • @bassthing26 my dad's old band 'the seven percent solution' also supported them!

  • Great song, sounds like early Suede

  • Wow, great honest sound...what a great rediscovery....

  • I have this album, Signed by the whole band :D

  • I love Richard Hawley's solo work but my god it would be amazing if these guys got back together!

  • She said! I agree I miss the 90's so badly also 0( tho I love going brit pop clubbing still! :0)

  • OMG missing the naughty 90's badly. Fantastic guitar groups

  • @floydthebarfly

The guitarist, Richard Hawley is doing solo stuff now. His last album, True Love's Gutter was a beautiful piece of work. I saw him live on that tour and my god is the man and his band talented!

  • One of the best rock albums ever produced- The Sun is Often Out

  • this is great indie but oasis can fuck off

  • @deadbutavailable cheers

  • Saw them open for the Dandy Warhols in San Diego, December 15th 1997, and these dudes blew them away. Drank some Guinness with Simon afterwards while we watch the Dandy Warhols. I wish these dudes were still making tunes!!!

  • @sdnavyblue72 I saw them open for a reasonably well-known local band (I can't remember who) in a club in Toronto that year and they completely upstaged them. I felt sorry for the band that followed them, but I don't think I even stayed for much of their set. The Longpigs just had something more going on. Too bad it was so shortlived.

  • Wonder what happened to the guitarist?

  • @floydthebarfly wasnt the guitarist richard hawley ? maybe im wrong.

  • @floydthebarfly

The guitarist, Richard Hawley is doing solo stuff now. His last album, True Love's Gutter was a beautiful piece of work. I saw him live on that tour and my god is the man and his band talented!

  • ha my dad's band supported these guys in the mid 90's

  • Sheffields Finest, Love it!

  • Such an awesome fucking tune... love it, love it, love it... x

  • Long time since I've heard this, brings back some good memories too...

going to have to dig out the old albums and pretend I'm still a student!

  • love this love love love love love this!

  • フジtv深夜のbeat ukとか毎週見てたな~。thurmanのluxとかもよく聴いてました。brit popは我が青春です。

  • TheHanspan,it's indie.Britpop was coined by the tabloids who,as great as those bands were/are,couldn't see past Oasis,Blur and The Verve.

  • u da man/chick thanks... Paully x

  • I just ordered their album. I'm so excited I keep making weird yelpy noises.

  • @welovejuniorband You won't be disappointed. The Sun Is Often Out is probably the best album I've ever heard.

  • MONSTER

  • It's brit-pop not indie.

  • @TheHanspan Brit pop was/is Indie. You go back and ask anyone(including the bands) who was in the 'scene' at the time if they went to see 'brit pop' or INDIE bands and i can guarantee you 99% would say INDIE. Brit pop was a name fabricated by our ridiculous media, and used only by them at the time. It certainly was not used by the people who counted, the bods who went to the gigs & bought the records...

  • @bomberzak ... absolutely agree. The music scene was ticking along nicely with "Sleeper, Longpigs, Kula Shaker" and many more until the media hijacked it for themselves like they do with EVERYTHING and blinkered everyone towards "Oasis and Blur" to create a battle of the bands that didn't really exist until then just to hype the rivalry that wasn't really there for the purpose of selling papers !!!

  • great tune from one of the 90,s also rans

  • i really love this song. this is one of the things i don't understand about the music industry, why some bands really get pushed and you see them everywhere, and others pass by pretty quickly without much attention. it appears to bear no relation to the quality of their music.

  • first time hearing this band and must say i really enjoyed them. im a huge nirvana fan and im giving props for a sick guitar riff and nice vocals

  • lame

  • Proper music, not the shite we are force fed these days!

  • people can say what they want but this was the most underated band/album ever.

  • Fantastic album, fantastic band!!!!!!!!!!

  • damn!! so GREAT!!! i can't stop heard it!!

  • Great band, great tunes

Such a shame Crispin let it go to his head and went mental!

  • great fun!

  • thanks

  • Their bassist is my lecturer at uni =)

  • @rattleandhumgirl

    best trivia evah!

  • Aww you're so lucky!

  • @rattleandhumgirl

    In what?

  • @OneBigRetard he was when I was doing my first year there, which was music tech and pop, at Huddersfield uni

  • Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. :)

  • Grew up listening to so many bands like this back in the nineties. Privileged.

Not many bands seem to write outright tunes like this anymore.

  • Ah those were the days. 'A dozen wicked words' off the album does it for me. A sheer classic.

  • Memories, so many memories - never forget crashing my car pulling out of the car park of the Lemon Grove in Exeter after seeing them perform an awesome set.

  • Exeter bey!

I saw them in the Cavern around the time this came out as a single. Great live band.

  • yes i was 16 at the time of this song.... and yes, i do want this chorus as a ringtone..

  • Fantastic

  • Great song, I first saw this on TFI friday probably 14 year ago...she said!

  • isnt it strange that richard hawley was in the longpigs. the sun is often out is one of those albums you can listen to the whole way through without being bored, a great album

  • In reply to last comment- Britpop was the best era in my opp- my fav bluetones who i have seen every year for the last 10 years- old cow!

Shed seven, suede, charlatans, pulp, stone roses, blur, elastica, seahorses could go on- you get the point!

  • As a 17 year old, already a big fan of OCS, Oasis, The Verve, Bluetones, Cast, James, The La's, Stone Roses, Stereophonics, Shed Seven, Paul Weller, Kula Shaker, Supergrass etc etc, the list of 90s being the best musical decade is just growing and growing.

Top notch tune, add Longpigs to the list ^_^.

    Keep The Faith.

  • love this song

  • top tune.

  • richard hawley one of the great guitarists of our time and a very nice bloke :)

  • YAY for the 90s! Longpigs were great, brilliant band. Reunite please and come and play in Brixton :-)

  • like wise, gr8 days, gr8 song absolutley loved the 90's

  • Great group fab song //(*_*)\\

  • I loved this whole album, fab '90s indie (better than the crap they call indie nowadays)

  • too right

  • Thank God I'm not the only one who thinks that!

  • oasis, cast, shed seven, longpigs (now that was indie, '94-'98, those were great years for INDIE music).

  • oasis?

  • @ADDA1982AVFC here here

  • @ADDA1982AVFC Yeah, they were all good, except Oasis. Utter crap. Not a bit of imagination between them, no concept of musical progression, just churning out the same shit album after album. There's nothing "indie" about them either. they are corporate rock whores

  • @ridjam hi there friend, although i disagree with you about oasis, that's your opinion which you are entitled to. anyway thanks for commenting, it's always nice to hear from a fellow music enthusiast. take care.

  • we want more indie music....PPPPPPPPPPPLLLLLLEEEEEAASSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love their first album. first time i saw this video. i miss the 90s too!

  • Excellent, seen them a few times, quality band..

Bring back indie, and get rid of this Emo nonsense..

  • @bomberzak Emo is Indie without any talented bands, populated by men with vaginas instead of male genitals.

  • @bomberzak agreed mate, this was the first live band i ever saw and as a 15 yr old i was totally blown away, so miss the 90's

  • あたしの青春じゃ。

  • I miss real Indie.

  • Sweet Jesus! This reminds me of swingin' myself about, drunk, singin' my head off in The Attic in The Garage on Sauchiehall Street! I could weep with joy! Where've all the good bands & creativity gone?! Haha!

  • Haha thats brilliant,I would've been there around that time myself,I uesd to love going up there on Monday nights cheap beer and cracking tunes.

  • Thanks for this. No doubt about it one of the best songs ever made by possibly the most underated band.

  • Have to admit I hadn't thought about the Longpigs for some time before seeing this. Takes me right back to the Phoenix festival in '96, seeing the band in a cramped, sweaty marquee. Lots of fun. Thanx for sharing.

  • fookin good memorys of acid and smokey indie clubs, peace

  • great times

  • Very very nice song. Never heard it before, but glad I have now.

Has a very early 80's quasi-punk feel to it.

  • Yeah I'm told they did get let down by the record company both of them they actually signed up twice

Mobile Home the second album is a real treat. I've only just got into the Long Pigs somehow they passed me by in the 90s I think they had another good album in them, great voice!

  • Great song. I miss the longpigs...

  • awesome , great band

  • Ha Ha this song reminds me of a guy I met. He was over in Dublin for the weekend when I met him. He went home and we keep in touch for a while and he made me a tape and this song was on it. Love it!!

  • This band were screwed over by the record label...like u wouldn't believe - the second album only failed because the record label made it impossible to succeed....why? to get rid of the manager!

  • Cool stuff. We used to always go see them in the Sheffield Leadmill, they were fantastic. Used to always be in the free magazine SAM too. Ah those were the days!

  • I used to be their German representative back in 1996

  • just great!

  • The bird in this video is fit: fact.
