I saw them in 1996 at a tiny venue next to a porn store! in tempe Arizona, Crispin signed 3 of my CD's and drew a penis on one of them!!! they were just amazing
this is and always will be one of the best albums ever to come out of the brit scene, easily on par if not above radioheads the bends, unforgettable in every respect. . .
The guitarist, Richard Hawley is doing solo stuff now. His last album, True Love's Gutter was a beautiful piece of work. I saw him live on that tour and my god is the man and his band talented!
Saw them open for the Dandy Warhols in San Diego, December 15th 1997, and these dudes blew them away. Drank some Guinness with Simon afterwards while we watch the Dandy Warhols. I wish these dudes were still making tunes!!!
@sdnavyblue72 I saw them open for a reasonably well-known local band (I can't remember who) in a club in Toronto that year and they completely upstaged them. I felt sorry for the band that followed them, but I don't think I even stayed for much of their set. The Longpigs just had something more going on. Too bad it was so shortlived.
The guitarist, Richard Hawley is doing solo stuff now. His last album, True Love's Gutter was a beautiful piece of work. I saw him live on that tour and my god is the man and his band talented!
@TheHanspan Brit pop was/is Indie. You go back and ask anyone(including the bands) who was in the 'scene' at the time if they went to see 'brit pop' or INDIE bands and i can guarantee you 99% would say INDIE. Brit pop was a name fabricated by our ridiculous media, and used only by them at the time. It certainly was not used by the people who counted, the bods who went to the gigs & bought the records...
@bomberzak ... absolutely agree. The music scene was ticking along nicely with "Sleeper, Longpigs, Kula Shaker" and many more until the media hijacked it for themselves like they do with EVERYTHING and blinkered everyone towards "Oasis and Blur" to create a battle of the bands that didn't really exist until then just to hype the rivalry that wasn't really there for the purpose of selling papers !!!
i really love this song. this is one of the things i don't understand about the music industry, why some bands really get pushed and you see them everywhere, and others pass by pretty quickly without much attention. it appears to bear no relation to the quality of their music.

Memories, so many memories - never forget crashing my car pulling out of the car park of the Lemon Grove in Exeter after seeing them perform an awesome set.
isnt it strange that richard hawley was in the longpigs. the sun is often out is one of those albums you can listen to the whole way through without being bored, a great album
As a 17 year old, already a big fan of OCS, Oasis, The Verve, Bluetones, Cast, James, The La's, Stone Roses, Stereophonics, Shed Seven, Paul Weller, Kula Shaker, Supergrass etc etc, the list of 90s being the best musical decade is just growing and growing.
@ADDA1982AVFC Yeah, they were all good, except Oasis. Utter crap. Not a bit of imagination between them, no concept of musical progression, just churning out the same shit album after album. There's nothing "indie" about them either. they are corporate rock whores
@ridjam hi there friend, although i disagree with you about oasis, that's your opinion which you are entitled to. anyway thanks for commenting, it's always nice to hear from a fellow music enthusiast. take care.
Makes me feel old too! Great memories when listening to the Longpigs. Love that album and mobile home! One of the best british bands and should of been huge.
Sweet Jesus! This reminds me of swingin' myself about, drunk, singin' my head off in The Attic in The Garage on Sauchiehall Street! I could weep with joy! Where've all the good bands & creativity gone?! Haha!
Have to admit I hadn't thought about the Longpigs for some time before seeing this. Takes me right back to the Phoenix festival in '96, seeing the band in a cramped, sweaty marquee. Lots of fun. Thanx for sharing.
Yeah I'm told they did get let down by the record company both of them they actually signed up twice
Mobile Home the second album is a real treat. I've only just got into the Long Pigs somehow they passed me by in the 90s I think they had another good album in them, great voice!
Ha Ha this song reminds me of a guy I met. He was over in Dublin for the weekend when I met him. He went home and we keep in touch for a while and he made me a tape and this song was on it. Love it!!
