The triangle offense does not do well in helping assist ratings. One of the reasons Jordan never averaged 7 assists per game when he easily could. Most of his assists came off of iso not the triangle. Same as Kobe but he tends to pass less than Jordan in iso situations. But really career wise Jordan is without =.

@megatroll By the way the reason Kobe's stats decline in 2008 was simple, the Gasol trade. Kobe even stated in interviews that he no longer 'HAD" to score 30 or more every game because he finally had help. Kobe had been up to 2008 consistently the best player in the league but never got the MVP for multiple reasons which I won't get into. By the way I am a Kobe fan and say Chris Paul deserved it in 2008. And Wade deserved it in 2010. Sadly Lebron lovers gave it to him 2yrs straight.

Most of MJs points came from the mid range, not the paint.

@KazaamJones hey, nice stats....but I think most people don't define clutch as simply "the last shot taken", it's more like taking over the game with 2:00 to go in a game...i think if you remember seeing the phoenix LAL series in 2010 game 6, kobe never actually hit the GW shots but down the stretch, he took over the game to prevent the lakers from losing a slim 2 point, 4 point lead in the final minutes....which I consider is more in tune with the definition of clutch--showing up in late moment

Stats don't lie. I know Bryant is probably a better long range shooter and better ball handler, yet you can't refuse to accept it. James puts up consistently better numbers than Bryant since 2008. Simple as that. Wade probably does too. There are MANY players better than Bryant.
And Scottie was a legend in his own right and INDEED HAD seasons where he was a better rebounder and defender than MJ. But as for scoring, he was nowhere near him.

The triangle offense does not do well in helping assist ratings. One of the reasons Jordan never averaged 7 assists per game when he easily could. Kobe even stated in interviews that he no longer 'HAD" to score 30 or more every game because he finally had help. Kobe had been up to 2008 consistently the best player in the league but never got the MVP for multiple reasons which I won't get into. By the way I am a Kobe fan and say Chris Paul deserved it in 2008. And Wade deserved it in 2010. Sadly Lebron lovers gave it to him 2yrs straight.

@megatroll Really man .025%? I don't even have to look it up If he shot that poorly he would never have been given the ball. You meant 25% and yes that may be true. If you look it up Kobe use to shoot the ball as a ROOKIE in clutch situations. When Jordan entered the league as a Rookie his game was already at NBA level. Kobe coming out of high school took longer to develop. Not making excuses just stating why his percentage is worse.

@megatroll Now as far as career percentages go Jordan scored a lot in the paint. His ability to score in the interior Phil says was the greatest in the game today. You know how Centers usually shoot 50-60%? They score mostly in the interior. Now I'm not saying Jordan couldn't score outside because he was deadly from the outside. But no team in the league could stop his drive in the paint not even the Bad Boys. Jordan in paint=score or assist Kobe shoots too damn much and as a fan of his it sucks

Also on a sidenote that's not exactly true.
Most of MJs points came from the mid range, not the paint.
It was defenders utmost priority to keep him out of the paint, so he had to adapt and implement the infamous fadeaway in his post up game. (which Bryant desperately tried to emulate and failed... LOL)

@megatroll On a side note it is true. Just because teams made a point to stop Jordan from driving did not mean they could succeed. The infamous Bad Boys had ways to prevent Jordan from driving and guess what Jordan did? He drove anyway. There is not a person on this planet who can "force" Jordan to NOT do what he WANTS to do. All you can do is make it difficult for him. There is video footage of the series on youtube. Watch it and you will see, Jordan was more dangerous in the paint.

@megatroll Second of all Kobe did not 'fail' to emulate Jordan's fade-away at this point your bias against Kobe becomes evident. It is ok for some reason Kobe has that effect on people. Anyway just so you know Kobe is the ONLY player Jordan has acknowledged that has similar attributes to him. Kobe is also the only player Jordan has stated 2 yrs in a row is the best player in the league. Again you can find these videos on youtube. Magic says Kobe could possibly be the greatest since Jordan.

@megatroll Also Steve Kerr said Kobe is the best offensive player that ever played the game. And even Charles Barkley last year who was a tough Kobe critic gave him his due after he single-handedly beat the Suns and took the game over when the game was on the line. I see you mention Lebron, the only player I rank as the next "king" of basketball is Wade. Wade is a clutch performer Lebron is not. Maybe this year he will prove me wrong but the previous years he has not been while Wade has.

@ralx225b Kobe neverr had that leadership quality..how can he be compared to jordan if he was a sidekick for the first half of his career??? shaq was a true leader and actually saved kobes ass a lott of games because kobe is a ballhog and still is....he always had a great supporting cast to save his ass when he took too many shots...jordan wouldnt have allowed no 35 pt blowout in the playoffs...jordan got better clutch, season, playoffs and finals numbers..kobe isnt even better than duncan

Yes Shaq was the leader as kobe grew took about 3-4 years he became a dominant force in the league and when Shaq got injured carried his team to victories and in clutch situations hit the game winning shots. @ralx225b Exactly my point you cant compare jordan and kobe if kobe was a sidekick for a portion of his career and that his shooting is inconsistent. I never hated kobe until espn analysts hyped him up so much when ive witnessed him miss mannyyy shots in his career. And i didnt say u did ESPN analysts said rose is as good as magic....and yes shaq and duncan are statistically better than kobe, and are better leaders. We shouldnt be comparing kobe to jordan...more like comparing wade to kobe.

@whitefang6969 Im going to say this because i dont wanna argue.......there is a reason why kobe only has ONE mvp and 2 finals mvps (deserved only 1) instead of 5 because shaq was the leader on that team. Just LOOK at the the difference between kobe and jordans season numbers, accomplishments, and playoff numbers...Jordan rapes him in every category. Also kobe is overrated in the clutch he only makes 31 percent of his clutch shots and has missed his last 5 playoff buzzer beaters..hes a shotjacker

This isnt espn this is from phil jackson the coach of both mj and kobe, who we know speaks his mind. He has seen both sides of each player.
