I wouldn't have waited that long to move up. if you're in the garden spot 4th or 5th position, then you just save the horses stamina as much as possible and push for home esp if you can get a clear shot at the finish. The last 1/4 mile is where it really counts,that's why positioning is important.You just don't let the other riders crowd you in. Otherwise,you'll never get it.

@hawk8414 Either they wanted to make a huge impact on a maiden run(If so they did a good job!), or that is how the horse needs to run its race. I think the second option is probably your answer. Racing is not cookie cutter, every animal is different and its apparent this horse races to its own drums ;)
