  • For white sticky rice soak minimum 4 hours. For black sticky rice, soak minimum 8 hours.

  • I have made black rice pudding before, when i bought the black rice the forein packaging wasnt thai, and it looked like jasmine rice only black, was it the same as black sticky rice or just might be called black rice

  • To test that you purchased black sticky rice, the package should read "Glutinous". As well, if you soak black sticky rice over night , the water should be a dark purple colour. To use up the black rice that you purchased, why not make black pudding and serve mangos on the side?

  • I thats what i did, the pudding, i guess i just wanted to know if all black rice was glutinouse and could be cooked in the same way as white sticky rice or if there were multiple kinds, and yes, the water did turn purple.

  • All black rice is not glutinous unless it states that on the label. To make black sticky rice, you must mix it with white glutinous rice. More instructions are on my web site.
