Bad cover. I like a band taking a song and making it there own but this? only thing the same is the lyrics which doesn't necessarily mean that its bad but the Guitar sounds nothing like the song and the drums? Too simplified. If you're going to make a cover atleast play close to the same tempo as the original too. Just my opinion so feel free to message so I can get some other input and opinions.
I wouldn't call the guitar simplified at all. The riffs they've used are more complicated than just following a galloping rhythm and four chord progression like the original. Why would a cover need to be close to the same tempo as the original? I've seen metal bands cover pop songs at far faster tempos and the covers have sounded much better. They're using the same chords, following a fairly similar pattern with the piano intro. It's a valid reinterpretation of the song.

Honestly, I dont know the band Sign, and dont care what they sing, but I enjoy this cover. I have been listening to Metal for a great deal of my life, and ALL genres of Metal. But is everyone aware of what "Run To THe Hills" is about? Its a very somber and sad song in my opinion, and the way that Sign dipicted the song with their sad and melancholy aesthetic was appropriate to me.

Sign are very talented and good musicians, and I would love to see you try to come up with such a unique version of an original song and try to do it better than Sign. Iron Maiden is a great band and one of my favs, and if you think this sucks or what ever, you should not consider yourself a fan, and don't have much music knowledge.
I like it because it is they're adaptation of the song and it's not a copy. It's not on my daily playlist but it is done very tastefully. BTW Iron Maiden is the best metal band ever to come along but hey other stuff is good too.

It's their take on the song, and imo it captures the essence of the subject matter incredibly well. No it's not Maiden but then again this isn't a Maiden tribute band.
The original version makes me envision soldiers and native warriors riding their horses into bloody battle.
This version makes me picture those same soldiers and warriors, but they are slapping each other with limp wrists while they cry, making their mascera run.
And then calling it quits and running to their homes so they can try to sound tough on their computers.

Iron Maiden is a great band and one of my favs, and if you think this sucks or what ever, you should not consider yourself a fan, and don't have much music knowledge.

I like it because it is they're adaptation of the song and it's not a copy. It's not on my daily playlist but it is done very tastefully. BTW Iron Maiden is the best metal band ever to come along but hey other stuff is good too.

I can understand make changes to a song when you cover it; verbatim covers can get pretty old.
But this... All they kept were the lyrics.
They butchered the melodies, and added really terrible screams.
The guitar not only sounds like ass noise, but it's not even half as difficult as the original to play. Hell, the distortion is like a really lame kind of Djent.
Maybe it's because the style it's done in has no appeal to me, but this is just about the worst cover I've heard in my life.

@axolotlkips How does how difficult something is to play have any impact on how good it is? Sign's riff is different to the original, yes, but I like it. It's their take on the song, and imo it captures the essence of the subject matter incredibly well. No it's not Maiden but then again this isn't a Maiden tribute band.

The original version makes me envision soldiers and native warriors riding their horses into bloody battle.
This version makes me picture those same soldiers and warriors, but they are slapping each other with limp wrists while they cry, making their mascera run.
And then calling it quits and running to their homes so they can try to sound tough on their computers.

Pretty cool. Obviously the original is far better, but I like the fact that it's not just some band playing and singing it identical to the original. That would be pointless.

this is by far the WORST cover i have ever heard...a combination of whiny and growling lyrics, wayyy too slow tempos, messed up rhythms, terrible drums, and all in all, a terrible interpretation of a great song. they turned this song from one of the greatest metal songs of all times to a crappy song not even worth listening too.

I thought it completely sucked, although i listened through the whole cd a few times & this song definitely sounds better now. I listen to Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, Helloween, all that jazz, & i can admit, for some of the covers out there, this is nice =)

@dnnnr Haha yeah that cover was shit. I really liked all 3 of the "Keeper Of The Seven Keys" albums, they're all highly reccomended =) I'd recommend: Master Of The Rings: Highlights being Where The Rain Grows & Perfect Gentleman.
The Dark Ride: The Dark Ride & Mr. Torture
Gambling With The Devil: It has this awsome, dark sound to it, in a sense kinda eerie. Gets stuck in Your head haha highlights being all the songs!

Well this is different... Definitely not what I was expecting... But I like it nonetheless. I love Kerrang!'s cover albums, they always have so many very different songs on them, and it is nice sometimes to hear a change. Although I must say, I do prefer the Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold and Trivium covers, but maybe that's just me
