I like the original better - sharper audio - better dynamic between vocal and instrumental breaks. Still love it though - GR had something special going on.
The difference between this and the original is that this is less cluttered...always felt they overdid things just a bit originally on this, his most famous track. Now it has space to breathe as he 'winds his way down'.....God bless Gerry.
This is a fantastic, almost definitive version of Gerry's signature tune! I do find that the percussion -- which I've always loved -- has been pulled way back in the mix, but the sonics, depth, separation, and clarity are an order of magnitude better than any version I've ever heard!
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE BEST SOUNDING POSTING OF THE LONG VERSION OF THIS SONG --, THIS IS IT !! This IS a "re-mastered" version, but it does not seeem to be noticably changed from the original mix; just with more "dynamic content", definition, and brightness (all of the "original version" postings here have treble content that sounds a little "dull"). Now, if someone will just up-load this version "with lyrics".
The best "original recording" posting seems to be the one from "Painting Laura".
i knew it!!! i love this song! this version!!! i got the original and i was like... "mmmh it sound a bit slower now" guess it was mi childhood sugar...
The mix here seems more spacious - has more 'air'. R.I.P. Gerry Rafferty - and thanks you for the music.
