I think the reason why it became so popular, is because the government completely irradicated MDMA, a relatively harmless drug in the same cateregory as crack and heroin. When mdma disapeared, dealers and producers began to use a number of different dangerous chemicals to replace it, methadrone was one of them.They couldnt of cared less just like the government. Im not saying it wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for that, but it definately has played a MASSIVE role in it becoming so popular.
