Before I wrote the song "Imaginary" I wrote Self Control which was recorded by Laura Branigan. The two songs have something in common, besides me..."Where the raindrops as they're falling tell a story" - Imaginary..."Before the morning comes, A story's told" - Self Control. Self Control inspired me to also write Lose Control performed by Evanesence.

@NinjasShuffleToo Sadly, I have found through experience that most people really do not understand depression, mental illness, or tragedy at all and just equate it with being really sad, and many insult the person who has depression with comments about their inability to handle basic emotions. Depression, mental illness and tragedy can affect you on a level deeper than you can ever imagine if you have not had it. Amy Lee truly knows this darkness and writes beautiful music that really helps.

Maybe its just me, but I don't understand how listening to this could possibly help someone through any kind of tragic or depression-related experience. Don't get me wrong, I love this band. This is not only limited to this song. Perhaps a better example would be someone listening to a sad song in hopes of helping them when they are sad. I just don't see how listening to stuff about sadness helps your own sadness. Just a thought. Good song though :)
