He wrote a lot of material and for that I tip my hat, it takes a whole different musician to write kickass songs than to be technically really advanced.

But on a technical level, and I understand where you're coming from, he is not that great to me as his technique is pretty lacking. On that level someone like Paolo Greggoletto or John Myung is more an inspiration to me.

The main problem with that is that everybody will disagree with you. Calling a band "the best" is always very difficult.
