  • @rwmerlot777 He has some sort of loop pedal that's hooked up to the contact mics.

    d-a-x-o dot d-e

you can't buy them, but there's a PDF on how to make one. Warning. The site is very odd!

  • This is pretty much the greatest thing ever. Are these expensive to make?

  • @STNKbone its a stick something to hold the stick in place a wood block and a violin bow in short your answer is no

  • This is painful to ones ears!

  • Can you be in my band?

  • I adore the dax and this is the best demonstration I have ever seen online. Hans is so cryptic on his web site, but what would you expect? Thanks for this post.

  • This dude is awesome ... saw him in some guitar event.

  • I`ve had Hans reichel as my ringtone for absolutely ages-He appeared on the launch programme for all night TV in the UK way back in 1981.And was just gorgeous...Marc,where do you get the stands et al for the dachsaphone?.

  • you could probably use a video camera tripod and somehow attatch the little thing that screws into the bottom of the camera into the wooden block thing

  • This is incredible! I want a daxophone!

  • It's a very pleasant surprise to find this video Dan. I remember meeting Mark in 1999 when he and I were sharing a bill at the old iEAR performance series at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He got a big kick out of my springboard and it was my first face-to-face encounter with a daxophone since 1989 or '90, when Hans Reichel last performed in Chicago

  • Ooops, you seem to have dropped some names their.

  • hey mark,I studied bass and cello with you years ago at mansfield. Its nice to see you have taken it out!!! Im a drummer not a string player but you were a great teacher and a monster player.

  • Hilarious! Love it! This must be what all those silly instruments in Dr. Seuss books sound like!

  • This is wicked awesome

  • I built one of these. It eats up violin bows ! Be warned !

  • Actually, with a little technique and sandpaper, you'll find the daxophone is no harder on your bow than steel viol strings.

  • That's the problem - I had little technique !

  • This is so nice. I'd like to have one to frighten my neighbours.

  • it would be hilarious living next to this guy... all those strange noises would make you speculate what on earth is going on in his house :D

  • Wow.

  • who do i ask to build me a daxaphone ?

    love it!

  • john st germain. he's my friend, and he's building us a daxophone. it's gonna be so awesome!!

  • I love that tongue, it has great low vibrations. It looks so delicate thoguh.
