He's not playin' his guitar at all......he's playing every string of my heart.....good grief...what a genius player he truly is. Thank you for posting Poser5k. :^)
james is right the soul the one note with soul, forget the hammering, arpeggios...the acrobatics..I ask these joe sartrianis, David Gilberts, to do without the circus and give me 1 note with soul...just one note...one note only..they cannot do it...
I could listen to Larry all day....and I have many times. Talk about music to clear your head...he is it. Great live sound too....Thanks for posting it, Pose!
I remember Larry Carlton saying that early in his career he was playing to impress other guitar players. And then he decided to just play music instead. Good move.........
guys with comments like" i can play better than this guys" well i can play better too but the thing is is this guys have records and awards in the music world...where are yours?
no, you can't play better. There is more to guitar playing than playing fast notes, it's not that difficult to play fast if you practice enough. Larry Carlton plays with taste and knows what the right thing to play is in each situation, that's why he is one of the most prolific session musicians of all time. Any nerd sitting in their bedroom can learn to play "Eruption" and do lots of tapping, it doesn't mean that anyone wants to hear them
Well put. I've worked with so many artists who thought they were seriously great, and the end result is always the same... they go nowhere. The great artists I've worked with are always humble, and friendly.
By the way, I have the exact same keyboard as the guy playing here, Roland A90EX. The action is very stiff, but good for a song like this in which you need a slower, but more precise action. I recognise the sound too, it has some great Rhodes/Wurly/Acoustic Piano sounds.
Spot on man, very well said. Im sick of these non musical wankers running up and down scales and arpegios as fast as they can and passing comments on greats like Larry. A wonderful unique musician and a gent to boot!
@EchoCannon89 exactly right Larry is the man and he can also play very fast when he wants to, not that he needs to and not that he does it all the time, he does it where its needed and where it will sound best, Larry is my favorite guitarist of any genre of music, his music just makes the hairs on my neck stand up. I can't wait to see him live again as it was arguably the best experience of my life. Long live Larry Carlton. :D
Just stumbled upon this genius of an arrangement of a great tune played by the planets best musicians - only to read some of the neanderthal comments. People - it's music - very well played music to be enjoyed by all who choose to do so. It's not designed to allow you to vent your high levels of testosterone and empty swollen tesictles. There are other ways to relive yourselves boys.Go ask Dad or older brother - but in the meantime please try to keep your comments centred on the subject matter.
You see why Larry is so popular. The man just isn't afraid to "bend" a guitar string to get the sound he wants. Larry, indeed, from playing some of the mosted advanced music to simple "humanstic" feel. Larry does it all.
That's why he is where he is in the music world and "still" my favorite guitarist :-)
Brave to slow it down and nice touch with guitar vocal, combine that with slick backing from Sapphire Blues Band and you just hate yourself that you were not there to savour ever little bit of the ambience. But, hey this is close enough to give you a chill down your spine. We are gonig to try some numbers like this soon so we need all the luck we can get!
Am I seeing this right? The pianist is playing a crappy Rhodes patch on a digital piano... that is sitting on top of a suitcase model Rhodes piano? I think my head just exploded.
Fabulously awsome!!!!

Hey DUB please explain to me how you give ONE NOTE WITH SOUL. I would like to know how to play that note all day long.

Loved the little OO Martin. Just goes to show the soul of jazz is inside the artist not what instrument he plays

I believe that's a Valley Art OO-Acoustic which was custom made for Larry.

Well put. I completely agree. Give me 100 players who play like satriani or vai, and one who plays as soulfully as B.B king or Larry Carleton
