  • Fabulously awsome!!!!

  • Man that was tight! Wished they ended longer though..

  • So true. The old mantra "listen to the notes he dont play",is actually good.

  • Mr.Guitar :-))

  • Man! Just how deep into the groove is it possible to go? Builds and builds, with not a single note too many - just awesome...

  • Larry, literally has that damn guitar talking!! Special Talent....

  • A genius, so musical....

  • Wait minute - what a bout Michael McDonald? Guy wrote this thing, eh? Carlton owes him for this.

  • Yesterday I saw Larry play at The Jazz Cafe in London. Fantastic gig!!!!!

  • Yesterday, Larry rocked 'The Jazz Cafe' in London . Superb gig!

  • He's not playin' his guitar at all......he's playing every string of my heart.....good grief...what a genius player he truly is. Thank you for posting Poser5k. :^)

  • te quedas flipao viendo y escuchando wau wau

  • sa oui c du bon jazz ... pwoualala sa ké bon

  • sweet as honeysuckle..the haters and know nothings can pound salt

  • bigre que c'est beau ....

  • Great playing....the piezo quack makes that nice Martin sound like any cheap electro-acoustic.

  • steely dan

  • awesome...but where is Michael McDonald?

  • I like Larry Carlton and this song, but it's sorely missing Michael McDonald!!

  • I'm a guitar player but, with those horns going on, this just makes you want to lay it down on sax!!

  • king of cool !

  • last time in Den Haag i was there

  • Larry Carlton has the best timing

  • Hey DUB please explain to me how you give ONE NOTE WITH SOUL. I would like to know how to play that note all day long.

  • Loved the little OO Martin. Just goes to show the soul of jazz is inside the artist not what instrument he plays

  • I believe that's a Valley Art OO-Acoustic which was custom made for Larry.

  • james is right the soul the one note with soul, forget the hammering, arpeggios...the acrobatics..I ask these joe sartrianis, David Gilberts, to do without the circus and give me 1 note with soul...just one note...one note only..they cannot do it...

  • HERE HERE!!!

Well put. I completely agree. Give me 100 players who play like satriani or vai, and one who plays as soulfully as B.B king or Larry Carleton

  • On the money dude. The bliztreig guys leave me cold.

Less is best, leave room for the AIR.

  • Great job Fellas. I love to hear Larry Play. All the others are very, very good also........dj flash.

  • It DOES NOT get any better than this! Did Brecker play sax on the recording? I can't remember.

  • he's my idol.. a great jazz guitarist..

  • great stuff. i am just not sure the dynamics of the acoustic fits here.

  • Does anyone know of a video showing how to play that opening keyboard climb? -Great song and video, thanks!

  • I could listen to Larry all day....and I have many times. Talk about music to clear your head...he is it. Great live sound too....Thanks for posting it, Pose!

  • master of string bending.

  • master of everything lol

  • I remember Larry Carlton saying that early in his career he was playing to impress other guitar players. And then he decided to just play music instead. Good move.........

  • Every time I listen to this video,I am more and more "Blown Away" by the "Incredible Musical Ability" these guys have!!!

  • "INCREDIBLE GUITAR AND SAX"!!!!!!!!

  • guys with comments like" i can play better than this guys" well i can play better too but the thing is is this guys have records and awards in the music world...where are yours?

  • no, you can't play better. There is more to guitar playing than playing fast notes, it's not that difficult to play fast if you practice enough. Larry Carlton plays with taste and knows what the right thing to play is in each situation, that's why he is one of the most prolific session musicians of all time. Any nerd sitting in their bedroom can learn to play "Eruption" and do lots of tapping, it doesn't mean that anyone wants to hear them

  • HAHAH well said mate, how up your own arse do you have to be to say your a better player than carlton.

  • Your right. Anyone who studies a carlton guitar solo can see that it is very special and amazing how perfect the notes are.

  • Well put. I've worked with so many artists who thought they were seriously great, and the end result is always the same... they go nowhere. The great artists I've worked with are always humble, and friendly.

By the way, I have the exact same keyboard as the guy playing here, Roland A90EX. The action is very stiff, but good for a song like this in which you need a slower, but more precise action. I recognise the sound too, it has some great Rhodes/Wurly/Acoustic Piano sounds.

  • Spot on man, very well said. Im sick of these non musical wankers running up and down scales and arpegios as fast as they can and passing comments on greats like Larry. A wonderful unique musician and a gent to boot!

  • @EchoCannon89 exactly right Larry is the man and he can also play very fast when he wants to, not that he needs to and not that he does it all the time, he does it where its needed and where it will sound best, Larry is my favorite guitarist of any genre of music, his music just makes the hairs on my neck stand up. I can't wait to see him live again as it was arguably the best experience of my life. Long live Larry Carlton. :D

  • Just stumbled upon this genius of an arrangement of a great tune played by the planets best musicians - only to read some of the neanderthal comments. People - it's music - very well played music to be enjoyed by all who choose to do so. It's not designed to allow you to vent your high levels of testosterone and empty swollen tesictles. There are other ways to relive yourselves boys.Go ask Dad or older brother - but in the meantime please try to keep your comments centred on the subject matter.

  • guitarttimman sucks and he has no penis LOL!!

  • You see why Larry is so popular. The man just isn't afraid to "bend" a guitar string to get the sound he wants. Larry, indeed, from playing some of the mosted advanced music to simple "humanstic" feel. Larry does it all.

That's why he is where he is in the music world and "still" my favorite guitarist :-)

  • Jeez I'm so glad to know he's your favorite guitarist guitardickhead. Now maybe you'll fuckoff and leave him alone.

  • i feel a little amosos creeping in here !!! calm down !!! calm down !! its only you tube .. if Not !!!! FUCK OFF !!! LOL ..

  • I can play all these intruments better than these guys blindfolded with handcuffs on! "Yeah I wish" A+++++++++++ Brill!

  • i can play this!1

  • Larry picks it clean on this one but it's the HORNS that make this song swing. One man's opinion. Cheers.

  • i agreeee

  • best song in the world

  • Quite simply, THE best.

  • I would say the same thing but what about Lee Reitnour though. It's hard to say between the two. They oth have that raw but smooth style.

I would love to see the two in a cook off!

  • @musicman4ursoul theres a vid of Larry and Lee doing room 335, for my money both awesome!

  • I love that song ... Minute By Minute is an absolute musical masterpiece by the great Doobie Brothers ... and LC most definitely rules.

  • Smooth Rendition. Love it.

  • Brave to slow it down and nice touch with guitar vocal, combine that with slick backing from Sapphire Blues Band and you just hate yourself that you were not there to savour ever little bit of the ambience. But, hey this is close enough to give you a chill down your spine. We are gonig to try some numbers like this soon so we need all the luck we can get!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!! Thanks!

  • Larry...

    You are sooooo wonderful

  • Vera musica. Grande Larry !!!

  • moyeslucas dot com on drums.

  • Am I seeing this right? The pianist is playing a crappy Rhodes patch on a digital piano... that is sitting on top of a suitcase model Rhodes piano? I think my head just exploded.

  • Man your eyes are good, and theres no mistaking that fake Rhodes sound.

  • nailed it!!

  • Absolute Genius !!!

  • My god is to amazing!! YAY Watching and listening to Larry Carlton makes me happy!

  • Thanks alot, Yay More Larry Carlton!
