I have this laptop and its freakin awesome.

Much better than alienware m18x in every way except it doesnt have as much power in the graphics engine.

Other than that you cant beat the keyboard layout and the typing experience.

Great build quality and solid feel when typing. THere is zero flex in the keyboard.

Very professional looking system without it being boring and the 3D, you will have to experience it for yourself to see how good it really is. The graphics are out of this world.

I have been running crysis 2 on advanced settings with 3D activated and am getting 30FPS and gameplay is fantastic. THe only game I have an issue with is the first crysis. It doesnt run properly maxed out but on the second highest settings, no problem.

@bortous Doesn't matter much to me.My p150hm with the gtx580m and an I7 2760qm is comming.It will take 99.9% of games maxed out and has lots of future proofness.I'm overvolting it to be able to OC to gtx560ti clocks. The only game I expect it to have trouble with is metro.I'll probably be able to max out BF3 with this rig. Can't wait :)

Amazon.com claims they had six in stock today. I bought one and having it shipped for next day air Saturday. Just checked the listing again, this time it went back to the "This item has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." I have no idea if they actually had it in stock. Usually they just say they are out of stock and more coming soon. As soon as a tracking number is released, I'll let everyone know it's the real deal. No stock elsewhere

If you live near a Best Buy, go see their identical stripped down version to find out where everything is located. Call ahead of time to make sure a G74SX demo is available. They won't sell the 3D, it's too pricey for their target market and they have been making deals with all pc manufacturers to build them cheaper versions.

I've seen their listing. It still says "PRE-ORDER" on the top left corner. Have you bought from them in the past? I just don't care for their selection of small sized SSD options. NewEgg has bigger SSD's a heck of a lot cheaper. Are the motherboards limited to the SSD size and specific manufacturers they can accept?

@KickDownDoors No I haven't bought from xoticpc before, but they do have some of the best prices you can find and they have very good ratings (Check resellerratings/com). And no, I don't believe there's any motherboard limitations. You can order your ASUS without an SSD, get one from Newegg and install it yourself :)

Well its a gamming laptop so battery is the last thing you will think about...its 2-3 hours tops plus you cant realy play games at full setting since clock speeds will be throthled down to run on batteries...playing games youll be plugged in anyway...

Asus Germany has anounced 2 european versions of the asus g74sx. 1 non 3D model (gloss screen)with 1TB HDD space, the other is a 3D model (matte screen) with 1,5TB HDD space. Both models have 8gig RAM memory, 3gig nvidia gtx560, blueray combo drive, intel 2630qm as standard. If the european versions will have the backpack and gaming mouse I don't know. So I'm safe to say that the g74sx will be for sale in europe very soon.

3GB VRAM is overkill IMHO...they just did that to make the GTX 560m look more powerful than the GTX 460m...but realisticaly the 1.5GB difference wont mater cause of the memory bandwith...heck you dont even see higher end DeskTop GPU's with this much VRAM...As long as you have 1GB you should be good to go...
