@mjd775 You've right about parts of the chord progression from Led Zep's 'Thank You' sounding like Tim Buckley's 'Song To The Siren.' Man, those guys were lifting music where ever they could find it.
Only one singer matches the sensitivity of the original, in his inimitable and unique way -Robert Plant. I think it would be impossible to surpass Buckley's version, but Plant easily equals it, and offers us a heart piercing interpretation that ratchets up the emotional essence of the song several clicks.
this is why Robert Plant doesn't sing hard rock any anymore - this is where is leonine romantic heart lies. god bless him for it. what an amazing artist; what an amazing interpreter of a Tim Buckley song that he so makes his own.
thank you. i love led zep - they wrote the soundtrack to my adolescence - but like my hippie mom sez, "you can't make a happening happen again." it's not 1979 anymore, bonzo's still dead, punk has come and gone and come again. like plant himself sez, "i'm not that guy anymore."
Check out the original, a beautiful version by singer/songwriter Tim Buckley. Tim Buckley and Larry Beckett wrote this song. Tim died in 1975, he was Jeff Buckley's biological father.

...parts of this remind me of Led Zeps "Thank you", and not because Robert sang it, some of the melodies are similar.

you are so right. I wish folks would understand Plant! The who;e purpose of Zep was to evolve and change-not to rehash the past...
