i asked my local pet stores if filters were required for molly fry and they said no you just have to maintain a temp of 78 degreesfilters are only required when the fry are big enough to be moved into a larger tank with adult fish
@KJstables well, you could always put some pantyhose over the intake tube, but if your filter has a flow control valve, then you can try lowering the suction. It still may be too strong though.
you think she just misses him? you think i need to get a new molly to breed? i also have four tetras: two black neons and two pritellas i think they are called. i am so sorry you had to read my two comments on one subject but i wanted to make sure i got everything in. plz awnser my question and any help at all is appreciated.
i have been looking at and watching my fish and it looks like my male molly is trying to breed with my female betta and she is getting relly stressed out. he wont even go near my female molly which i purposley want him to breed with. i have two female bettas in this tank. should i remove them? is there anything i can do about it? is my female molly maybe bothering him? i have bred mollies before with the same female but this is a different male. the previous male died about 2 months ago.

U know some informations true but some isn't but I agree with the floating plants or plants that r in the gravel it worked out for me I have 13 females and 3 males and each had almost 20 but some got eaten by my dragon fish while they were still on the ground
@fusionfallx well you will most lickley get fri but it mostly depends on how many fish are in the pond. the other fish may eat the fri. you should expect fri in about a month after you get the FULL GROWN fish. also you can ask your local fish store for a mated pair.
HI Im planning on buying a preaty huge fish tank (tropical) I was wondering if I could add these fish in the tank together as a community tank… …Platy… …Kribensis… …Swordtail… …Blue Gourami… ...…Molly… …Honey Gourami …. …Angelfish … ….Endlers Livebearer… …Betta …. …Dwarf Gourami… ….Pearl Gourami … …Common Pleco 20... (6 of each with live plants.) is this ok?
Hello everyone i will answer any questions you may have on pet information in less than 1 day just email me.I also do request videos. subscribe to me if you want.Thanks.
please we need help our female mollies die as soon as they have babies. they seem fat and healthy until they have babies and then they die. is this normal?
No its not normal but its not unheard of. Are the mollies who die related. If so try getting some more that arent because it might just be something genetic.
Hello I always do a 25% water change a week but it's a highly planted tank! Just for the algae for the baby fish etc and they take down the heavy metals out of the water, just check out my video's.
nc vid i am just starting to breed and already had one batch but small 4 the others died for those of u it take about 2 days for fry to take on color and start shaping usually 7 days is when they have finished
one of my guppies has just had fry in a net breeder i have 2 questions to ask about it how do stop the mother eating the fry in the net breeder and how do you know when the mother has finished breeding for the day gd vid
that is the only way to stop her from eating the fry.
you can buy a special breeder net for the guppies. when the mother has the babies, the fry drop through a slot in the bottom of the breeder, and the mother cant get them.
u can buy a box called a hachary that floats in your tank and when your fish is a few days due put it in the hachary and when she drops the fry will fall through a gap to a lower section of the hachary then just turf the parent out of the hachary and feed the fry in that for about two weeks then they are ready to realese in to you tank and just keep an eye on them and if they get bullyed put them in the hachary for a nother week .
I thought that if you put those plants into the tank, it takes all the air out of the water, and it kills your fish, because when i put one of those in with my tetras, it killed three of them so i took it out they started behaving naturally again. Am i right?
If you give the plant the right "needs" it will be benefitial to the fish, it holds good bacteria, gives the fish some food, its a natural form of filtration and it gives the water oxygen. I dont see how a plant made your tetras demented..
plants add oxygen and subtract co2 + detrimetnal nutrients. something other than the plants killed your tetras, my friend, unless you were smacking the fish with the plants.
Hi. I have lots of trouble with my livebearers i wonder if you could help me. I had 2 sunset platies in a 40 gallon tank but when they gave birth the parents ate all the fry. I couldnt get the fry out because the tank is to big and they were to fast. Is there any food that will distract the platties and hopefully stop them eating the fry? thanks
Put in more plants, especially big plants up to the surface. This makes it harder to the adults to find the small fries. The adults are eating anything fitting their mouths. So it is only a matter of luck if the fries can hide somewhere before they end in the stomanch of their relatives.
i like using different sized gravel, starting small, and ending large, marble and river stone sized.
this way, when the larvae swim down( which is what most do) they are able to hide in a place where it is impossible for the adults to get at them.
i got this idea when i saw a baby guppy living in the undergravel plate (not in use, just their) at school. it had to swim through the gaps of the gravel at the sideof the tank, and those were realy small, the next day i saw 5 more.
plants and things for baby hiding spots help them alot if you wish to keep the maximum number of fry alive put your female in a baby saver a few days b4 she births or the second you know shes going to birth because thats the only way to garentee their survival.
