How nice about the restorationof the 1940 Ford. And...it was done or at least shown without the aid of over-loud rock music. This was a very pleasant video. Congratulations on the work. But remember, cars of any vintage want to be driven, so put some miles on the Ford and enjoy it. The designer, btw, of this model (I've forgotten his name) was young at the time and died relatively recently.
@zeekwolfe The designer was E.T. "Bob" Gregorie, (1908-2002) who also designed the original Continental in '39, the Lincoln Zephyr in 1936 and the '49 Mercury. He began his career designing yachts, but after the stock market crash in '29, went to Detroit to see if he could find work in automotive industry. After he left Ford, he went back to designing yachts.
nothing better than seeing someone drag some classic tin outta the woods and put it back on the street where it belongs awsome !!!!!! very cool my hats off to you!!!
No, sold the last one. My last 40 was featured in the August 1988 Issue of Street Rodder Magazine, p. 108. It was a total 'resto-rod', but kinda 'sneaky' underneath. My first 40-cpe was in high school 1958 and had a 57 Chrysler Hemi in it.
I'm fairly sure Early Ford V-8 Parts is a 'dealer' for both Bob Drake and Dennis Carpenter which are manufacturers of the parts. I have found Bob Drake's stuff to be more expensive than Carpenter's, and much higher quality on some items. Other items seem to be identical. Drake's rubber stuff is way better!
Early Ford V-8 being in NY works out better for us time wise and shipping costs and we like dealing with the owner Lou. Drake has great stuff if you can't find it any place else. Have you ever dealt with Mac? Did not have good experience with them.
If you are interested, my husband Rex is restoring his first car...a 40 ford convertible...he loves to talk about it and get information...fp 931-432-5229
Thanks for admiring our car. It has been a long time and lots of frustrations, but worth every minute. We hope to have all summer '08' to drive and enjoy.
Beautiful job. I can't believe a '40 Ford coupe would left to the elements, but thanks for saving it. Most people would have rodded it. It's nice to see an original.
