Just a fyi for everyone watching this video. The Lee-Enfield Mk V (also known as the SMLE Mk V) was used by the British army but was replaced during the war by the Lee Enfield No 4 Mk 1 (and later versions) by around 1944. The SMLE saw extensive service from the BEF, through the desert and in Italy, though i believe there were very few used in Normady in 1944. The differences between the Mk 5 SMLE and No 4 Mk1 are not huge, just the look of each gun is different.
Il glad i live in belgium. Lee enfields fall under the "Free weapon" category so i can purchase one without a license (Not demilled! But you can buy ammo..And the ammo sale is strictly controlled)
@mikey29211 True. I bought some Pakistani ammo a a couple of years ago and I still have it. I couldn't even give the stuff away. Samco Global used to sell true British .303 surplus and I got some of the last batch which I still have, thank God. PRVI Partisan are the ones that probably sell it the cheapest now, at least that's what I've found.
Indeed, this video is refering to the No.1 Mk.V, which was a rear sighted version of the No.1 Mk.III SMLE. Main differences, as mentioned, were the right sights, later used on the No.4, and an additional reinforcing band behind the muzzle.

I have a MK V in almost mint condition dated 1922. It's too bad that the surplus ammo market has dried up. Pakistan ammo is worthless.

Rifle shown is not a Mk V,which has a backsight similar to No4.
Only about 20,000Mk Vs were made, between 1922 AND 1924 a small percentage of total production.

yep, your right.
Mk 5 is the jungle carbine, much less wood work and much shorter barrel, kicks nice and hard when fired (less barrel/weapon weight = more recoil)

I got one of these at a gun show for 70.00.And as far as bolt actions go it is one hell of a accurate gun works great.
