  • Michael's voice has actually brought me to tears. And Sarah's voice is so beautiful. I want this to be real, The Phantom was my first crush, and I think I will always have a crush on him. It's a beautiful story, and a beautiful cast. <3

  • I prefer Emmy Rossum over Sarah Brightman?

  • What are they saying at the end? I know this is after he kidnaps christine

  • @luciferxfatality They found the body of the actor he strangled backstage to replace him onstage. They form a mob - Madame Giry leads Raul to the Phantom's lair, warning him about the punjab lasso, a weapon the phantom uses.

  • @luciferxfatality The scare chord is after she removes his mask and the audience sees his face for the first time.

  • @Airlord3670 I wasnt talking about the scare chord xD I'm talking about the actual dialogue that Madame Giry, Raul, and the rest of the cast is saying

  • 3:19

  • I can feel the passion pouring out of this song. I love it.

  • one of those most epic tracks...ever!

  • Brightman is technically brilliant. It's just that her voice sounds like Kermit the Frog.

  • Sarah Brightman is soo much better than Emmy. But I do like Gerard almost as much as Michael.. Nothing compares to the original though. Truly amazing!

  • I do not get why people bash Sarah for her singing people do research Webber wrote this for her voice so that being said she is what CHRISTINE is supposed to sound like and Butler butchered this role there was nothing sexy or passionate about squawking that he called singing. And ask any female in my family and they will tell you Michael's Erik was far more seductive, passionate, and sexy than Butler can ever hope to be.

  • @dethe8ter In my opinion, they all performed marvelously. Keep in mind that Butler had never really sung before his role as the Phantom.

  • @TheJonahWhale I also consider the fact that he was also had a computer soften and do some of his notes and he still sounded bad, I am just saying any stage Phantom except Paul Stanly gets my praise for the fact they did it on stage. However Butler and Stanly butchered the material as far as I am concerned.

  • @dethe8ter True... I personally believe he sounded good, but that is just my opinion :3

  • @TheJonahWhale Well your opinion is wrong lol jk

  • @dethe8ter I have to agree with you... Michael's voice gives me shivers his voice is absolutely amazing!

  • Crawford's voice just makes me want to melt.

  • i cant stand sarah's voice

  • He is great.. but she sucks =-= shame we cant merge the two films together. That way everyone in that film would be able to act and sing and not sound like miss piggy. At any rate we should shower Andrew Lloyd Webber with gifts and little babys XD

  • lol I was playing this so loudly that when the scream was played towards the end, my neighbors came rushing to my door to ask what's wrong.

  • I think I like the Gerard Butler/Emmy Rossum version better on the whole, but when they are singing together in this version, it sounds amazing!

  • This song is really awesome (: i like Michael's voice, but Gerard's voice is more seductive and more powerful. I like the movie's version better too cuz it was more exciting. Sarah Brightman has a good voice, but it seems really weird for christina this is an AMAZINGGG SONG THO (:

  • @ClevverTv24

The role of Christina was written with Sarah Brightman's voice in mind, so in a way- her voice is how Christine is supposed to sound.

  • Man the chords when that mask comes off are just so PERFECT! Love it everytime.

  • Lol I remember back when I was about 4, my cousins and I accidently broke our grandma's Phantom casset and we were convinced that we were going to be haunted by The Phantom Of The Opera(we didn't really have any idea what Phantom was) now I love the show and can't help but laugh whenever my grandma tells that story.

  • NOT THE ORIGINAL!!!

  • @johnny426941 YES IT IS !!!

  • @RossLeeTV NO ITS NOT THE ORIGINAL is called

the phantom of the opera by rosethornuk

  • @johnny426941 oh ok lol thanks for saying i never knew sorry

  • @RossLeeTV lol kk

  • Her vibrato is perfect for the higher notes I just wish she had toned it down for the lower ones so she could add more emotion.

  • 0 dislikes, that is correct. Because no one can dislike this video.

  • Ouch. Major bum note in the string section at 2:43

  • @NorbertDickblister Damn, you're right......good ear!

  • THE BRIDGE IS CROSSED SO STAND AND WATCH IT BURN!!! Omg... I would die to have Michael Crawford sing to me. Totally in love with his voice!!

  • The great thing about having multiple versions is to look at the differences and compare and contrast rather than say which one is "better". The movie used an audio enhancer, so all the wrong notes would be corrected. Musicals don't have that when you are preforming live. Plus, musicals give the shivers down the spine whereas movies you sit there and wish you could see it live :D

  • I know Brightman originated the role but when she fails at being sexually charged in the section of the song that requires it.

"how long should we two wait before we're one, when will the blood begin to race...consume us?" sounds like it was spoken by a warbling old lady (Mrs Garret from Facts of life, aunt Bea- Andy Griffith; Miss Hatheway- Beverly Hillbillies). Nothing sexual here.

  • @bbraat I totally agree, I love Sarah Brightman to death, but this actually might be the only song where I prefer Emmy Rossum. Even though Sarah clearly has vastly better technique and her notes and range are strong you can't hear the sexual tension and the passion behind her voice. Technially it's there, but emotionally I think Emmy Rossum does a better job with putting passion behind this song. And I am definitely not a huge Emmy fan, so it's a little difficult for me to admit that lol.

  • @SunnyAntia -Thanks for not reacting negatively for my criticism of Sarah- clearly the better singer. She was trained to sing in a way that preserves her voice so she can perform 7-8 times a week, EVERY week! Emmy can express herself because she can take a week off if she tires her voice. A live performer doesn't have that luxury. While Sarah should have realized that cast albums are FOREVER and "let it consume her", after a 1000 performances it's not easy changing!

  • @SunnyAntia Haha, I'm sorry, but I find it funny that you bash Emmy's technique. The girl grew up in an opera house! She's been classically trained since she was a kid. Her technique is flawless (unlike Sarah who either had way too little control of her vibrato or just a horrible opinion on when to use it).

  • This is my favorite song from the musical.

  • Hell yes 8D

  • ... This songs about fucking.... Right? ...

  • @icried4kishu Actually...yes.

  • I don't think I've seen one Phantom of the Opera video that didn't have a war going on about who is the best Phantom.

It's Anthony Warlow by the way.

  • I really like Michael Crawford's voice, it feels warm, soft and mysteriously passionate. Though Gerard hit the seductive side of the Phantom's passion.

  • Why is Sarah Brightman doing a Miss Piggy impersonation??

  • @RUnerdy Good one. She also looks like a zombie, the way she holds her eyes open like that.

  • Bravo :)

  • This song is so lustful.

  • I would like to se Ramin Karimloo in the role as The Phantom in this as well.

I believe he could bring a different kind of life to the role.

  • i saw hugh panero and he was AMAZING! i wish i could find the version which he sings it

  • This part is absolutely EPIC on broadway.

  • @Sinead4DaveGrohl Did you see Hugh Panero, or whatever his name was?? I just saw it a couple nights ago... holy crap he was literally perfect. I didn;t know that role could get better... but he was literally a flawless genuis!!

  • @BrandXSpandX totally agree with you...he was amaizing...a perfect phantom!

  • Amazing, saw POTO on Broadway a couple of weeks ago... just amazing

  • Ah, for how many years have I been listening to this CD on long car rides? These voices are a part of my life.... Love this.

  • i made a video comparing this perdormance with the one from the movie

  • so , for stage this voices are way better , but i loved the movie and think that gerard´s voice is perfect for the phatom , it´s seducting

  • @ClubJrocks Listen to Michael Crawford's go at Music of the Night... now THAT'S seducing.

  • @MonocleRabbit i saw michael crawford 4 times in l.a. he is completely mezmorizing. to this day, i can put phantom on and go away to a another world!

  • I think that no one can beat the original: Michael and Sarah are both Phenominal. I know Sarahs voice has a vibrato and that puts some people off but when you look at the effect it has on the audience I think it adds to the play. Both voices are amazing but at the same time a bit creepy which helps with characterisation. It shows both sides of the phantom's personality and it adds to the illusion that christine is under his spell by sarah having a werid and wonderful voice.

  • I've never had the pleasure of actually seeing this on stage. I like both the movie and stage version. The only proble I have with this is that the music swells over the voices at points and, personally, I think that she could use the vibrato less.

  • do you have all the soundtracks of the original casting? because i can't find the other soundtracks.

  • somebody who does NOT NORMALLY SING should NEVER have been allowed to play the phantom beyond the walls of his bathroom. Aside from Michael whose voice is undeniably schooled and brilliant on every level there are 100s of skilled actual singers who can also act and are good looking if that's the criteria ...who were/are a thousand fold more deserving ...compared to the theatrical spectacle of the stage production the film was an abomination....

  • @Royalbrettania I agree with you but I did like the movie. For a while, I was unable to see the play on Broadway and it was a way for me to catch a glimpse of POTO. Now that I've seen both, I can say that the play is much better.

    :)

  • @Royalbrettania I completely agree with you. Butler should never have been given the role of Eric in that movie. I was quite excited to see it when it first came out, but I ended up cringing as I listened to Butler practically screaming out those songs. His performance wasn't sexy or mysterious at all.

  • I can't remember what happens here! I know that the chandelier crashes in the film and Las Vegas but what's happening in London?

  • wow her vibrato is sooo annoying

  • Personally, I like Emmy's voice better, but that's because it sounds soft and soothing. In an stage situation, that would not do. Also, the role of Christine was written for Sarah Brightman. Andrew Lloyd Webber was Brightman's husband, he composed the music with her in mind. Brightman has an opera voice, and she uses it the way she is supposed to, with talent as well. Other Christines are talented in their own way. The same way with Michael Crawford.

  • @DoctorValkyrie Sorry to rip on a fellow Virgo, but Emmy damn near put me to sleep. Her voice is..just the type I can't stand.

  • Sarah Brightman can't sing? Oh dear god...

  • Oh God I HATE Sarah brightman.. She needs to learn how to sing without shaking o mean Emmy Rossum did better and it was her first time singing AND she was18!!!!! Take that Sarah brightman!!!

  • @DarkPlauge241 The play and songs was written specificly for her voice and no one else. This is an opera - and the movie is less opera like than the original cast. If you're negative, begone - please! :-)

  • @93sika Why are pointing me out!!!!! There are plenty of other people here that hate her to!!!! So if uyoure negative to me begone - please! >:I

  • @DarkPlauge241(The shaking is case you don't know is called vibrato, singers use it all the time especially in theatre and opera to stay on pitch.) Emmy Rossum also had her voice autotuned. Not that I don't agree with you, Sarah Brightman is the better singer, but I like Emmy Rossum's voice better (in this role). But either way, the best Christine is probably either Rebecca Caine or Gina Beck.

  • Brightman and Crawford are much better than the ones in the film. If you disagree you've obviously seen the film before and have no taste in good music.

  • everytime I hear my friend from sweeny todd I think of phantom of the opera

  • I find it hard to masturbate to this...

  • whoa...this made me dizzy, her voice shaking so much is messing with me..

  • one of my favorite songs from the movie :P

  • just because you CAN use vibrato doesn't mean you SHOULD :/

  • Oh I love it! I have the original score on Lp disc. :-)

  • Great quality... wow

  • Sarah Brightman seems to have a frog in her throat..

  • @UWB596 Her voice is breaking due to her menopause.

  • Finally some good quality!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for posting this.

  • While Michael is a beautiful singer, he doesn't have that umph in his voice that makes you seem overtaken by him. Hearing his voice, I feel like a scrawny little guy is singing to me. Not a mysterious phantom of the darkness.

I believe Gerald Butler mastered this.

  • @Unperishable Obvious troll is obvious.

  • 0 dislikes. Cool! :D

  • @SweetDanishGirl Good enough for Andrew Lloyd Webber to marry.

  • @Bagelboy615 but then they got divorced...

  • @jujube150 That doesn't negate the initial feelings before marriage, just the license of marriage. *dot dot dot*

  • I appreciate both their voices (Gerard's and Michael's) quite a bit, but I found Gerard's legato a bit more heart wrenching and intense. Furthermore, I found the duet of 2004 much more powerful. Love this song <3

  • I would die a happy man if i got to play the phantom

  • I personally like Colm Wilkinson's singing :D he's the best ever

  • most others are great... but michael crawford and sarah brightman were made for these roles... they are amazing!

  • Sarah kinda sounds like Stitch (from Lilo and Stitch) that learned how to sing Soprano opera. O_O

  • @pineapplekeyblade I LOVE STITCH

  • I don't really mind Sarah Brightman, so this would have to be one of my favorite tracks from the album. I do have to say that I enjoyed the live version more, though my reasons for that should be fairly obvious. =)

  • do u know any singer other than sarah brightman to hear this song because she annoys me !!

  • Sarah's vibrato is irritating me a little when put together with Michael's voice :/

  • Ruined Andre ruined! ... To bad about piangi too I suppose... XD

  • Gosh...

This is on my top three:

    1.The point of no return.

    2.Phantom of the opera.

    3.Music of the night.

    Michaels Crawford singing ofcourse,

dough I don not like Sarah Brightman that much.

  • Such wonderful emotion from 3:50 - 4:43! It doesn't get better. And I totally agree with aislingselva... Sarah Brightman can't have been the best choice for the role. She has an impressive range and she's pretty, but there's something about her singing that makes me want to skip her parts on the CD.

  • @niceni8 Sarah Brightman... was the composer's wife. He literally made the role for her to sing for it.

  • Wow! What a voice!<333 I loved this song soo much!<33333

  • Michael was amazing! His voice was made for the part, but i really, really don't like Sarah Brightman!

  • @aislingselva i kind of feel the same way. /:

  • @aislingselva Can I personally say that I love you for this comment? I HATE Brightman but love Crawford. Brightman can't sing woth crap. Emmy Rossum nailed Christine in the movie.

  • 4:23 jesus christ.

  • Michael Crawford FTW!

  • My favorite song from the play. <3

  • Micheal's voice is divine.

  • Gerard was amazing for a guy who doesnt normally sing, but Michael owned this role :D

  • @Ninotori Finally someone with brains.

  • @Ninotori ah im obsessed...i saw the word 'gerard' and automaticly thought of the band my chemical romance because their singer is named that XD i need a break from that band apperently! but now i get it =p and i agree

  • @Ninotori Put absolutely perfectly. For the guy who yelled out "SPARTA!" he sings pretty well.

  • @Ninotori You are so rite. I liked the movie and everyone did a great job and I saw the play and again everyone did a great job. I wish i could've seen Michael in action as the phantom though.

  • @Ninotori owns it.

  • @Tehpwnage893 I stand sincerely corrected :D

  • This is the best recording of this song.

  • hi melissa

  • I really like this version of the song! Thank you very much for uploading it :)
