It does not reference aircraft position on the terminal chart but does on the taxi chart? No geo ref IAF, holding, om ect? Major screw up garmin. I assumed by the way garmin advertises the thing it could. I'm sending my unopened garmin back as soon as it gets here. I'll stick to my KMD250, great gps.
does it have a usb plug? so you can update approach plates, will it ever update scenery?, does it run off aircraft power or bateries? can u scroll over airspaces and it will tell you the type and altitudes of that particular airspace, can you plan a flight on the computer and upload it to the garmin or must all the waypoints etc be put in individually? is the panel reliable or off? and finally is there a newer one coming soon that maybe better? thank you!
Yes and yes. I am not sure if you can import flight plans from your computer but it can get power from the plane or from battery. There is no announcement for a newer portable GPS as of this time, although Garmin usually releases something every 2-3 years, the aera series being the newest things for aviation. Certainly not a 696 replacement.

I don't get why you need to pay so much for the darn federal charts. You can get them free off the internet. Makes no sense to me.

Now that's absolutely amazing, I need to get one of these. Unfortunately... the price tag is steep.
