That, is what we'd call, "Over-G'ing the targeting pod". Try and pull all that in real life and it's (more) bent airframe and broken pod for you.
Nice trick, but we'd rather you pick a payload that's suitable for the mission. A-A or A-G, unless you're a Strike Eagle driver looking for trouble, pick one mission to stick with :p
You must be a viper driver with that comment =-) one of the better youtube comments I have seen in a long time, these guys don't really understand the effect of loadout and weight
Hmm hows it about the Jammer pods, can they take the full 9 G-load? because that would be a real reason to put it internally. Still even for more drag, you need it in BVR and dropping it, is a bit expensive.^^
Oh and another note, (not to sound like a smart ass) but when ever a 16 gets engaged, it's flight rules to drop the tanks (i know you can't do that because that's the model in LOMAC) but still :D
the plane has great thrust but just not enough to pull up like that. Maybe A Flanker, or an Eagle, Or a Hornet. FAT ALBERT FROM THE BLUE ANGELS HAS MORE THRUST in those split seconds
It's not the thrust that matters. It's much more important to have a greater thrust to weight ratio, low drag. For exmaple, a bottle rocket does not need thousands of pounds of thrust to get it as fast as it flies. It just needs enough black powder to produce a measured thrust greater than it's entire weight of rocket body and propellant to get it to accelerate.
The F-16 has a T/W ratio of roughly 1.06 and at full after burn can produce more thrust than the aircraft weighs with a full load of internal fuel. An F-16 could certainly go straight up vertically and still accelerate because of it's thrust to weight ratio.
No. Simply the F16 cannot take off at that angle w/ that much weight on it (wing tanks) BUT, don't get me wrong, i love the 16, BEST PLANE OF THE TIME!
You're right, I didn't see the ordinance first time around. no ordinance. It could go vertical when clean, but yes, with that much weight that plane would stall in a hurry. It is a fantastic warbird.
you can tell that he is flying the f15, the f16 single engine would never have enough thrust to pull at a 40-60 degree angle off the runway with two wing tanks
You can make any AI jet in the game "flyable". It's just a matter of a model swap. In the video, he is flying the F-15, but from external, it uses the F-16 3d model. ;)
So... how would one do such a model swap? I've found some things that claim to be a Tomcat or whatever with an Eagle cockpit on Lockonfiles but they always turn out bad (weapons floating in midair, gun from nowhere, two afterburner flames on a single-engine jet, etc.)
just a question is the f-16 a mod?

You've never heard of a short takeoff like that?

For an F16? (A,B,C,D,E,F,G,HAF,TUAF,IAF,XL)? NO.

Agreed, but i still stand on the decision that it just simply cannot do that ;)

i got the catrd, tell me when u wanna fly
knuckles15961 5 years ago
btw, where did you fly this??
knuckles15961 5 years ago
no pilot would even think of trying to take off at such an extreme angle, regardless of how much thrust the jet produces
tjguy88 4 years ago
or even fly with like that with that payload

Yeah, well, this was the case with earlier Lock On versions, but not with the expansion "Flaming Cliffs" ;)

How can you make the F-16 flyable?

I just noticed how they had a reflection of the HUD on the Cockpit glass, during the takeoff ascent. They really pay attention to detail!
...
Well, with teh exception of the glitches. :p

No, they don't forget the shadows... it's an old bug. The plane is flighing before taking off :D
But i think they patched the bug
schmalzfaust 5 years ago
I noticed tht the graphics team forgot to shadow the landing gear. It looked like the thing was floating on the runway. :p
