@arklop5 Bands cover shit all the time onstage. Chances are they just wanted to jam. Metallica did a couple of riff covers of Smoke On The Water and Thunderstruck on one of their live recordings.
ASCAP makes the rules, not me. You might be able to get away with a couple of riffs from a song, but technically, you still need a performance license. Check out ASCAP's website for more info.
I wish he would have joined Metallica, they would have been the band of the century! But yea, Lars and James would have been mad because he DEFINITELY would have stolen the spotlight.
now adays a group charges 100 bucks to see one concert which lasts like 5-6 hours tops. woodstock lasted like 2-3 days. nothing beats it. they all the cool bands. if kurt was alive i bet he would have been there
Metallica are just not used to that. It's not they're style and shit. They could have shared the spotlight though. But I don't really think Les should be with them
Yes, I am. But he went to the audition. If he did enter Metallica, either they would fucking change a lot, or talent would be wasted. Kind of like Trujillo
not permanently, perhaps a couple of shows or so, and see what their fans think. I would just to love them to play master of puppets once together, and hear how crazy it would sound.
well the fact was is that lars said les was too good. they was afraid he'd show off and steal the spot light. course i can't blame em. i mean just watch the video haha
You said the exact same thing on the same video if I recall...
I expect to receive a reply about my insignificant genitalia which I will ignore.
And while I'm talking I'll come out and say to everybody that the only reason Les tried out for Metallica was because he and Kirk Hammett (lead Metallica guitarist) are good friends. SO
It's a fact that Metallica got great bass lines, specially for For Whom The Bell Tolls and Orion, but if you compare those songs to a Metallica setlist, Les would be "supressed" to a more discrete playing style.
Chuck Norris farted and what came out was every bassline ever thought or played up by anyone at any time...fuck it...............Chuck Norris IS music.
i loved that place

Legal reasons maybe? You can't perform copyrighted music without a license.

Kirk Hammet, take notes on how to play a song you wrote. rotfl.
akerswizard779 1 year ago 4
Note: Les' Thumb bends backwards to form a perfect 90 degree angle as he slaps the shit out of his bass.
Sidenote: So does mine, but im no where near that talented.

the reason he never joined Metallica was because he is TOO GOOD, James Hetfield said it himself

@Delta1382 and les claypool himself said because he himself was too weird and that james was being nice by saying that.

It has to be very hard not to get the gig of your life for being TOO good. Some practicing to reach that level and you go and overpass.
