  • I'd LOVE BBC to do a "Where Are They Now" type of show. Good stuff!

  • Thanks for uploading this! I love the ending to this, such a great documentary, really inspiring, good luck to all the people from this documentary and I would be so happy to see a series where they update us on what has been going on in these people's lives since this was filmed and what they are doing now!

  • A great documentary.

  • Awesome documentary~! Hope to see more documentary like this one~~!

  • BBC MUST stop promoting Chinese! It is Communist!

  • @ta986468 ...and what exactly is wrong with communism?

  • Best documentary ever. No arguments.

  • Wu yufei seems study in MIT.

  • The boy is so pure and innocent.

  • Fantastic documentary! Really inspiring, wish life was more like that here

  • Where is episode 6?

    :(

  • they're so pure, this was the more blilliant and unique documentary i've ever seen <3

  • I have watched through the entire episode spending a whole night. Its like my life is reviewed again briefly. Thanks for uploading. There are many disadvantages in Chinese education system, but its indeed almost the only solution for such a huge but poor population. That's why people with better persistence and optimistic attitude succeed eventually. I have lost this sort of spirit for a long time. Everything has its good side, and which could be gold like. Hope this inspiration can last.

  • thanks for the upload! I'm a singaporean with chinese descent and i'm really inspired by the prcian's tenacity to strive for the best, pushing towards progress, yet keeping in sync with their own filial ties and traditions. ending was perfect with fireworks, (one of her great inventions), and so very symbolic of the aspirations of youths in china. a brilliant portrayal of the age-old philosophy of hardwork and determination! chinese and proud of it!

  • when could China do such a great Doku about the School in the UK?(:

  • I don't understand all the positive comments! wake up people!!! you see all the young Chinese people want to study hard and get in good university and get good job and money for their families... In fact: the study and study, learn by heart, learn to respect rules, learn to obey, love and die for the country. Get brainwashed... If you are sick: no good school, if you don't get good grade: no good school, if u don't have private tutor: no good school, the best get all, the rest get nothing!!!

  • @Caramoon100 Chinese education system is far better, u don't see gravitty over z city, united, honest, no violence, no bullying, no beating, harmony, respect, hard sturdy for excellance, all this essantail are key for a good society less advantage at least can work in factory, political idealisum don't means nothing to general public, Chinese speed and concentrate all resource to build up good is role model now

  • @energyalt56 You are right: no violence, no bullying... however I am not sure this is due to education... I think this is due to society. I don't know about the US. But I know in France there was no bullying, no beating, harmony... some 20 years ago. This is not the case anymore. Why? Because the society changed. Before we lived in the countryside united in families. Now the society is divided: community black/ Chinese/ white... rich vs poor/ religions/ no families... Same will come to China.

  • @energyalt56 Also as the society change people get more candide... They have less dreams.. and want more, become more realistics. Also become more creative and criticize more. Look in China the advertisements are so simple and people fall for it. You give a small present or increase prices and make 50% bargain... they fall for it! Pizza Hut tell its customers their pizzas are home made: customers fall for it! we were the same 20 years ago.

  • 1:05 .. Nash is apparently a sex god in China too

  • The subs skip over a lot lol

  • watching this makes me missing my family living in china

  • Really brilliant series!

  • The world needs more people like "Mister B" -- that's what it's all about folks!

  • Thank you so much for uploading this series! It's wonderful!

  • Wu Yufei is in MIT now...

  • @koyuki1204 wait how do you know???

  • @snotberg123 you can check her name on MIT unversity website, and I read the news from the Tsinghua Unversity as well.

  • @koyuki1204 holy cow! Really? Good for her!

  • The ending is touching, and peaceful. Absolutely love it!

  • Although i'm a Chinese (from Hong Kong), I learnt a lot from this documentary as well. We should treasure what we have, and work hard.

    God bless those kids! =) =) =)

  • All the people in this documentary are very inspiring, especially Liu Xiang-love what he said at the end, the broadcasting girl and of course Wu Yufei.

  • What a beautiful movie for a beautiful country. I feel like old friends with each person now :)

  • Thanks a lot for uploading this! I found this documentary very inspiring.

From now on, I am going to strive to become as dedicated, perseverant, disciplined and hardworking as these Chinese students. Like Wu Yufei, I am aiming to get into a very good university and I hope that the inspiration I got from watching these videos will help me achieve that goal.

    非常谢谢你!

  • Now I'm hungry for dumplings.

I would love an update on all the kids, especially the orphan boy whose name I can't spell.

  • thx for uploading. I love my home!!!

  • Thank you so much for uploading. What an inspiring and motivational documentary. Good luck to all the students and their families. Here in the UK we take so many things for granted!

  • I am a Chinese working outside China. I have watched all the episode, such a amazing documentary. Thanks a lot for uploading!

    God bless China!

  • seeing these sort of stuff make you to try harder and motivate us! ROAR!!!!

I WILL not take what i have for granted!

  • Thanks a lot for uploading.

Some of the kids are so wise... a very inspiring and well-made documentary.

  • The sad part is that these kids study so hard and when they finally get to the real world, they end up earning like 50000-60000 yuan...which isn't a whole lot compared to American/Canadian standards. Well cost of living is lower there, so its not all that bad. But just imagine these kids here,in the western world. they would ALL be making 6 fig salary.

  • Ah this was nice, I'm so going to learn more now!(I hope)

This gets me all fired up.=p

  • aww.i so wanna adopt the young orphan boy. such a nice kid. god bless him.

  • I have worked in a Chinese middle schol for one semester and also studied at Beijing Daxue for a while. This documentary is by far the best description I've ever seen on the Chinese education system.

  • Thank you for uploading! This motivated me and helped me thru my finals, I know am going to work even harder to be a good student!

  • Amazing documentary, informative but still sensitive and inspiring.

Good luck to all those kids, and their families :))

  • I wish all those students well...

  • This part is touching.

  • great series!

  • love to be a chinese!

  • This has motivated me to cut all the unnecessary stuff from my life and work work work... I am going to save the fucking world.

  • @redleader55yt right BEHIND YOU BUDDY!

  • @redleader55yt the moral lesson of this documentary is not to, as you put it, work work work. It's to work steadily, to have a clear determination, to value learning, and to do good for your friends and community... to be optimistic, to embrace your difficulties, and to be happy with what one has.

  • @redleader55yt Its been a year. How is saving the world going?

  • well done!! So informative and entertaining!!

  • im proud to be chinese :)

  • BRILLIANT DOCUMENTARY

I hope watching this will motivate some students to study harder. Contrast, contrast, contrast..

Btw, I speak flawless mandarin. Impeccable :p

  • @Sai888 Amen. Chinese School was a momentous epiphany for me.

  • Do we get to know their gaokao/university results?
