In 98 They only made 15k of these Jeeps with that motor as a special limited edition for the end of that body style. i saw several 2005-2006 cars that were in superb condition. both the jeeps we saw were nice and the nissan frontier. the vans too. i didnt see any rust on any vehicle in this video.
Sure there are some really bad condition cars that need to get off the road, but there are SO many wonderful condition cars in there!
The government could have a dealership, and sell all the great condition cars, for alot more then they bought them for, and make alot more profit, they would still take the cars off of the old owner's hands, but if the car is nice, they could resell it for more expensive, lowering taxed, because this would be a great source of federal income.IMO

This program was designed so that mostly American vehicles are destroyed. Statistically those that participate in the program would then buy another American truck. It´s a clever way to get around trade laws that prohibit govts from hindering the sale of foreign vehicles...ie Japanese cars. All this program is doing is removing the availability of domestic vehicles and forcing buyers into buying new trucks.

@doinkdw here in california, salvage yards got the CFC cars. you could get any part from them except the engine. that got ruined by a solution in the block and marked with orange paint all over. the CFC cars stayed out for picking for about a month then crushed and rotated with more clunkers

I hate seeing this! People need to learn how to take better care of their vehicles. Not to mention half the customers I deal with at my place of employment do not even know what they drive. I had seen an 80's model camaro in good shape, and it was under the cash for clunkers. You could put a little TLC into it, and make it perfect again. Just pure laziness, if you ask me. i saw several 2005-2006 cars that were in superb condition. both the jeeps we saw were nice and the nissan frontier. the vans too. i didnt see any rust on any vehicle in this video.

Sure there are some really bad condition cars that need to get off the road, but there are SO many wonderful condition cars in there!
The government could have a dealership, and sell all the great condition cars, for alot more then they bought them for, and make alot more profit, they would still take the cars off of the old owner's hands, but if the car is nice, they could resell it for more expensive, lowering taxed, because this would be a great source of federal income.IMO

I agree with every comment made that the cash for clunkers program was a ridiculously stupid and wasteful program and a huge waste of taxpayer dollars. However, don't blame the administration. The blame lies with the people who traded in their well running, most often very good condition vehicles to be needlessly destroyed. Why? Simply put, greed. So the best way to ensure this doesn't happen again is to send a message to D.C. and not participate in this type of dumbass program again. Go McCain!

This program was designed so that mostly American vehicles are destroyed. Statistically those that participate in the program would then buy another American truck. It´s a clever way to get around trade laws that prohibit govts from hindering the sale of foreign vehicles...ie Japanese cars. All this program is doing is removing the availability of domestic vehicles and forcing buyers into buying new trucks.

@doinkdw here in california, salvage yards got the CFC cars. you could get any part from them except the engine. that got ruined by a solution in the block and marked with orange paint all over. the CFC cars stayed out for picking for about a month then crushed and rotated with more clunkers

What a freakin waste. So many of those cars didnt get that bad of gas milage. Almost ALL of those were alot better than my piece of crap I have and my DIDNT qualify for the program. Plus $4500 is only a drop in the bucket when the new car your getting (and it had to be new) is $40,000.00. If you ask me, it was a terrible idea.
