In the episode when teh starlights are reunited with their princess she asks them why they chose this form and they explain.

Usagi does not know that he is dead until the very end of the series. But she doesn't understand why mamoru doesn't return her calls or letters. Thus she becomes closer to seiya

This vid was awesome I love this paring Seyia is much better for Usagi you never see him getting brainwashed. He also isn't embarrassed to be seen with her in public and he had more of a reputation than Mamoru did.
