Wood Gas Cook stove dead easy to make. Single tin one wall

Google/Bing Wood gas stoves and read the orgional paper on it, it is a PDF. If the stove is designed right then it draw up the CO and H2 from the bottom of the combusion chamber where Pyrolisis is occuring and then ingnits it in the top holes. Once the stove is going the CO and H2 will jet out the top holes and ignite in a blue flame. Cool to watch if you do it right.

How do you know your actually getting pyrolosis which is what makes a wood gas stove wood gas stove and not a hobo stove? The idea of a wood gas stove is it draws the wood gas up ths sides and ignites it at the top?

I think pyrolosis is always part of a wood fire. In a hobo stove (and even in a camp fire) the gas is burned directly as it leaves the wood. In a gasifier the wood gas or syngas or production gas is not burned directly but can (after filtering) be led in an engine or seperate burner.

I think therefore this is a hobo stove.

@teb0atoz Pyrolosis is actually a non burning zone.  In a wood gasification stove the H2 and CO actually flow up the outside sleve and are consumed at the top port of the stove. It is really a cool process to watch.

As I understand it, the point of the double wall in a woodgas stove isn't to draw the wood-gas up -- it's to draw air up.

Holes work both ways, so you could lose woodgas out of the sides instead of drawing air in. It's hard to see clearly in this video, but it doesn't look like *all* the upper holes are acting as jets -- I suspect that there is some woodgas venting outwards from some of the holes as well, so this is far, far less efficient than a properly constructed two-wall unit.

Is there any different between Single Wall Wood Gas Stove and Hobo Stove? I think its no longer a wood gas. ~^_^~

@jc0chen Hobo stoves dont (necessarily) have the extra holes for secondary combustion, but maybe some models do. But you cant place the pot directly on top of the wood gas stove, you may be able to with a hobo stove

Love its simplicity. The first one I ever saw with a single wall was 86thmountmerrions. I have found that two walls allow for more efficient use of the fuel, more char and longer cook times for the same amount of fuel, which should translate to lower emissions, but you cant beet your one tin version for ease of construction. Nice emergency solution. 5/5

Cool vid,If you check out my single walled wood gas stove vid I use a ring of very small jets around the top which I find that works the best!!!
