@Jayfoxpox yup you can do this in Onenote, you're not obligated to use Onenote with a tablet pc pen only. You should try it they offer a 60 day trial on the software I think.
@Timbur44 probably Math Journal from Xthink, but i'd suggest posting your question on TabletPCReview where the forum users might be better able to help you find appropriate software
@SFseis You could probably use the Cache file location or just make a copy of the onenote folder and move that to the eternal hd or you could make a onenote package under save as and save it to your eternal HD.
@sandeep3181 Yes you can read and annotate with programs like Bluebeam PDF ReVu & Grahl's PDF Annotator. To use Onenote w/ PDF's you'd have to virtually print PDF's into Oneonote, it works, but then you lose the document as a pdf unless you print it back to PDF, so not a very elegant solution.
@SFseis I used to use PDF Annotator, but recently switched to Bluebeam, it has much more functionality, and PDF Annotator tends to get stuck opening really large PDF's.
i'm using a program called camtasia which records the screen. and Yes inking is as good as it appears to be. You can look at other tablet pc videos here on youtube to see that.
Some of my classes require a couple of my pages of notes and I would hate to have to bring notebook just for that class when I have a tablet PC and can just print off a couple. I have been using Windows Journal and it has worked pretty well with printing off notes. I like Onenote a lot more than Journal but can't print any of it because it is just one long, continuous page! There must be a way!... right?
you are going to have to set the default size, before you begin writing, it will end up being a little more tedious b/c you'll have to keep manually adding pages.
essentially you're going to change the template for onenote to letter sized sheets or A3 depending on what you intend to print to. You can access that from the drop down arrow on the tab that says new page and go to more template options and choices.
Yeah, I know what you are talking about and I have tried that. It is just too much work to get a new page (below the current page) that way. I guess I will just have to deal with Windows Journal. Even though I really like Onenote.
Thank you very much for your response! I appreciate it.
Can someone please help me? I have been searching everywhere for one answer but can't find it. I want to know if you can have normal, letter-sized pages that can easily be printed out - like in windows Journal. In Windows Journal, it lets you just add another page at the bottom when you run out of writing space. I was wondering if Onenote could do the same. I have had onenote for a while but can't use it if it cannot be put into standard pages.
hahahah till now ...i havent bought it yet...but will buy it like on dec or jan stasrt or so coz my college gonna start on fall session ...maybe till then prices may falldown (lets pray) and well i am thinkin of buying fujitsu 5010
Re being able to look at the screen all day, it is matte, but the Lenovo x61 has an sxga+ resolution (1400x1050 in a 12'' screen) or an xga (1024x768) i have the sxga+ and have no problems using it for long hours, but if you're concerned about the resolution you could always attach it to a big screen monitor.
Can't say its a regular occurence, might have happened to me once, when i had done some tweaking.
However, outside of that, having all your notes in one place, notes, digital/e-books, easily accessible, searchable, synced audio notes etc. Its an amazing tool for a student.
it allows you to start playing audio at a particular part of your notes...you could click in the middle of the written part of a lecture for example & it will automatically cue the audio to what was being recorded while you wrote, really useful if you had to leave the room momentarily or if you missed something the lecturer said you can go back & listen to that point & then add it to the written notes (if you're transcribing for eg)
The only tablet w/ a glossy screen is the HP tx2500 which makes it not optimal for use as a tablet in bright/fluorescent light.
I have had no problems w/ it keeping up w/ my handwriting. I think the advantages of having this medium for notetaking far outweigh whatever failings, but you do have to take into consideration that it is a computer, and they can fail, and something can happen such as the computer locking up or freezing, while the rest of the class is scribbling away.
Awesome vid. Thinking of one for school. Are their any disadvantages at all in using them to take notes and forgoing paper? Can it keep up with fast writing? Is the screen matte finish and easy to look at all day? Thanks again for letting me see one in action.
I just got my new tablet PC (lenovo think Pad X61). one note looks great! But all the options are overwhelming! I'm trying to practice using it so I don't struggle taking notes. In fact... I just wrote this comment using the tablet!! :)
This video answered all of my questions about OneNote and more!! This was so helpful. Thank you very much. Now I'm even more excited about getting a tablet! A ThinkPad X61, of course :)
The video was recorded in real time, but i'm a medical student, so i really use it just for notes. I basically use the pen in Onenote...Word doesn't have any recognition, but i could try writing in excel or word for you to see.
You can use it in MSN but its way slower than typing, and i don't have the model with touch, that's the xga model, this is the high resolution model sxga, so no touch.
Would you say that it replaces paper notebooks? Would you recommend it for someone looking to take notes at school, or does it have a difficult learning curve and such?
definitely replaces paper notebooks, and alot of times you can get electronic versions of textbooks, so it replaces the need to lug around with tons of books, its all i carry to school.
It took me about a week to get used to writing on my first tablet, a Toshiba m200.
The Lenovo x61 tablet has a better writing feel, i think the learning curve with that would be even less. (i gave a g/f my tablet to write notes in class and she wrote with no problems, never having used one before)
Hey Orian, come on over to the forums @ tabletpcreview and we can help you choose one that suits you. (Just google it b/c i don't think we can post links in comments, another good site that can help you is gottabemobile, which has extensive video reviews ( & forums as well), they are both invaluable resources.
Thank you for this video! I was debating whether or not to spend two grand on a tablet for college and, after this video, I'm sold! OneNote is awesome! Again, excellent video!
Awesome! I'm gonna "subscribe" to you then. I just ordered a HP tx2000 this morning with every option they had... thanks again for the video, made my decision go a lot smoother!!!
OneNote presentation that is super kewl....just makes you want to master the software. I had no idea how much I could improve my tablet pc experience by using this software, and how much I can improve my productivity. Thanks. P.S. How about a training video covering what you demo'd here?
Hi , is there a hybrid method where you can type all the text and directly draw pictures anywhere on the notes?
Jayfoxpox 7 months ago
@Jayfoxpox you can type & draw if you want to
KBarwise 7 months ago
@KBarwise
So you could draw and type on the same document simultaneously? Is this available on onenote or a different software?

@Jayfoxpox yup you can do this in Onenote, you're not obligated to use Onenote with a tablet pc pen only. You should try it they offer a 60 day trial on the software I think.

is it possible to change the view to full paper size without any bars and tools at the edges?
so i can write on it like a normal paper?
Creere 2 years ago
you can lose the tabs on the right, and the ribbon on top by going into full screen view

well Im thinking about buying one for using it at school... why dont you show us a couple of videos of what you usually use it for at school
uhh for instance using it with excel and powerpoint and word
and using the pen to have msn/aol conversations
and using the finger instead of the pen
and such...
was this vid recorded in real time?
