@andrealynne22 this kind of corgi is born with no tail. They were originally bred to not have tails because they were herding dogs. and the cattle would step on their tails so so the corgis did not get harmed from the cattle, they were bred without tails. There are some corgi breeds that do have tails but the Pembrooke Welsh corgis do not.

The breed of Corgi that does have a tail is called the Cardigan Welsh Corgi. Interestingly, this breed and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi (as seen in this video) actually originated from different parts of Wales. Sometimes the a Pembroke puppy will be born with a longer tail and is often docked to prevent the problems as written by midnightwolf621

corgi!!!!!!!!!!!! I love my corgi! she is 13 and still perfect (well except for a bad back and being deaf). Picking a corgi for a dog is possibly the best thing you could have done. they are fiercly loyal and highly trainable yet the friendliest dogs on the plannet, I HATE little dogs and I love corgis. But beware, since it doesn't have cattle to herd it will herd other dogs or your children (my Corgi used to herd me). Corgis are the best.

To potty train ours, I always took them out right after feeding and immediately (like within 2 - 3 mins.) after they wake up, repeating "Go potty" until they do, then praising and giving a treat immediately when they go. Didn't take very long. Corgis are pretty smart!

Congrats! Well as for potty training them I find praising them when they go where they're supposed to go more effective. Mika doesn't like to go where she won't get praised. Good luck with the new pup!
