Beautiful. I used to sing this to the seals on the west coast of Scotland. They came right in to hear it. Then again they were all the souls of drowned sailors.
Thanks for posting! I've been learning this song, and your video really helps as your voice is similar to mine (though I'm a bit lower on the scale and not quite as good as you). You have a lovely voice!
This version gives me good feelings. My friend and I were having a sleepover and we got freaked out, we played your version and it was exactly what we needed to fall asleep:)
Beautiful. This is one of the first songs I really remember hearing as a child, and you have certainly done a fantastic job. Some of the endings to certain lines seem a little abrupt but otherwise quite amazing. My favorite lullaby ever.
Beautiful, very beautiful. Thank you. Too bad the subject of the song was such a tosspot. He should have either stopped at the border, or gone directly to London. A perfect example of "He who hesitates is lost".
Absolutely wonderful voice love, not to mention the most mesmerizing eyes I've ever seen.
There were a couple of sentence ends that seemed a bit abrupt, but not so it was detrimental particularly. Strangely my society sing verse 2 & 3 the other way around, as we've got it on the score, yet I've heard more versions on youtube with it your way round.
I LOVE this song! I wish I was as brave as you to record myself live. I just put my own recordings up with mega reverb so my voice doesn't sound so rank xD. Love your voice though, I'm jealous of the abundance of flat notes.
A very nice rendition of this song, you have a lovely voice. Pity about the camera angle tho. 31angelbabe and Disturberofthepeace - get a life. She is singing-what has her appearance got to do with her singing? (PS CainiteRose I think you are really braw as well as a good singer)
You have WAY too much makeup.... I can't say anything about the song cuz I didn't hear it! I was distracted by the makeup... I don't wear that much....
@31angelbabe u just look like a dumbass, if u didnt want to look at the makeup you could have just looked away dumbshit!!. But there was no way in hell you COULD NOT hear her!!
ok but dosen't seem to be any real passion to the song. This song needs real passion to it, so the listener really feels the passion and the velocity within the song. Guess it would help with some background.
Hmm now add some back ground music to help quantify the rhythem of the singing and shes the best female singing of this song that i have yet to find on youtube.
Very lovely! I sang this song several years back and only just recently found my sheet music, and I wanted to hear it sung again. Thank you for posting this, it was fantastic to hear it again, especially coming from a voice as lovely as yours.
I was looking for a Scottish lullaby I could mention in a future Gargoyles fic. This song would be perfect and you've got a great voice! Not everyone can do a cappella.
In my experience full highland bagpipe isnt played since its so loud it drowns out everything else. maybe Northumbria anyway this is a choral arrangement that's the whole point.
Not often we see a video sideway, it is kind of unique. Although I wouldn't want to watch every video this way. Beautiful beautiful voice, so soothing...
Thanks - for Your mom and grandmom for raising You !
: )
I always loved the shanty "My bonie is over the ocean" - but teachers never bothered about the story of the Jacobites.
Later I realized my grandmom had a photography in her appartment of a column at a lake (Loch Shiel) - she did not know about it either - but I recognized it later...

Thanks for Your mom and grandmom for raising You !
: )
I used to love the shanty "my bonnie is over the ocean" - but teachers never bothered about the story of the Jacobites.
Later I discovered a photography in the appartment of my grandmother:
a column at a lake (Loch Shiel).
She did not knew anything about it either - but I recognized the image.
Thank You for publishing Your folk singing - I really enjoy it !
