what happened to sesame street???? when i was a kid there was classics like this one, now it's all elmo and useless things. my mum told me i learned my abc's from sesame street before i started school. can't see any child learning anything from it these days.
@jokezstar When I was a kid I sometimes worried that the ir in the world would run out after a while...funny the things you worry about as a child. Of course, I used to worry about the Bomb, too
@jokezstar When I was a kid I sometimes worried that the air in the world would run out after a while...funny the things you worry about as a child. Of course, I used to worry about the Bomb, too
Haha when we were driving from Connecticut to Alaska my mom played this for me on repeat. Needless to say my dad had earplugs firmly in his ears after about the 20th time xD
@Trund27 I totally want a walrus mustache. I met someone with a walrus mustache, who worked at an antarctic education center, oh the irony. I felt like saying "wrong hemisphere pal!"
I remember when I was a kid, I would try to yawn myself when I saw that, but when this guy said "bweaff," as you put it, I'd laugh, and that really ticked me off.
The BEST thing about this video is the TITLE!!! That made me LAUGH!!! Because EVERY kid back then would refer to this clip as the "Take a BWEAFF" song!!! I remember wondering WHY the singer sounded like that!!
Odd. I was in the grocery store and, although I haven't heard this song in about 25 years...it popped into my head and I couldn't stop singing 'take a bweaff.' FFS. I had to find it and listen to it again....So here I am.
the guy who sings this song is in a cosby show episode. the one with sammy davis jr. at the end when he's in the waiting room, the little guy who teaches him to read!! now i can put the face with the voice.
If you pay attention, to me it kinda sounds like Adam Sandler covering his mouth singing this song. And he always does childrens music. Who did this song?
That voice sounds almost like the old Simpsons episode where Bart has to wear elevator shoes, scalp cream and has his throat sprayed!!!!! Anyone else think so?
Ummm...what is a "bweaff"? I looked for it in my dictionary, on-line, & in ALL my Sign Language books, but I can't find the definition. I am deaf. Do you think these videos will EVER be Captioned for the Hearing-Impaired?
I know the feeling. Well sort of... No, I am not deaf, I am near totally blind; I have very little vision, & sometimes, I can't tell what's happening in a video if there is not enough dialogue or if there is very little detailed description in the video, so I share your frustration, but from a different perspective.
He's saying: "Take a breath, smell smell, sniff sniff"... but with a mouth full of marbles and a heavy nasal voice. That's why it is written "bweaff" instead of "breath"...
OH! That what it is! Thank you VERY much for clearing that up! Do you think YouTube will EVER have "Closed-Caption" capabilities for the deaf/hearing-impaired (Such as me)?
The reason for the changes is due to extensive research. Sesame Street has ALWAYS been about education, and they always use the methods that are seen to have the best response from kids.
Elmos world? That was invented because research showed that young children's interest waned entirely during the last 15 minutes of the show, so they added it to re-engage them.
Omg this brings me back, one of my favorite classic sesame street songs, I also like the water water water song, everybody sleeps, and the pigs that walked in style
I also posted for the older 'Take a Bweaff' video, and am just wondering when this one goes back to. Also, who is the singer - is it Northern Calloway (David) on both of them or on just one of them? I thought it was Joe Raposo (or did he just write the lyrics for this song?)
Ilike this skitt too fro all those animals in there I love animals. Will someone do me a favor? put more animal skits on. If some one find the one whre joe raposo did the skit with the walrus put that on too please. And wasn't there one with a rattlesnake? No one told me wat zoo these skits come from.
I'm just amazed they used the word "ventilation" in a kids' song. You wouldn't see that nowadays. They've dumbed down kids' shows to stupid things like Teletubbies.
I remember kind of being annoyed with this song as a kid... like I imagined the guy had cotton stuck in his mouth and I wanted him to pull it out. lol. Oh well, it's all cute.
I don't have the everybody eats/sleeps Raposo songs, but "Love being a pig" is already on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2BU1P2THgQ&search=love%20pig%20sesame%20street

It's a mis-pronounciation of "breath"... as if someone has a cold and their nose is stuffy or they have a mouth full of cotton-balls. =)
