Fantastic film! Thank you so much for sharing this. Curiously, the very first tail close-up that you see is actually a United Airlines airliner, not Eastern. I guess the editors could not tell the difference. How can you tell? By the exterior tail light equipment - only UAL had the high-intensity oscillating lights at that time on their DC-8's. Only EAL's DC-8-61's & -63's had them also (not their 720s) but the stretch versions hadn't arrived yet when this film was made.
My first plane ride was on an Eastern DC-8 from Miami to Cleveland in 1965. The return trip was on an Electra, with stops in Pittsburgh and Tampa. Both planes carried the old Eastern logo (the one shown in your 727 post). On the Electra, my seat was next to those huge propellers (at least I thought they were, as an 8-year old). I remember the engines on start-up sounding like an old vacuum cleaner we used to have. Thanks for posting.
Oh really? This day 200,000 Americans will fly. Eastern says that one out of six will fly Eastern. That amounts to 32,000 passengers a day thats cool. Too bad Eastern is gone.
I've been looking for this for AGES!!! I remembered an old EA commercial from the 60's and didn't know how to find it. I knew this was the right one when I saw that Electra taking off. That was the only part I remembered clearly all these decades. Funny, I always thought this commercial was in colour. Thanks for sharing, mcdonnell220!

Alexander Scourby was the voice of Eastern Airlines in the commercials during the mid-'60s.

I like the diversity of different airliners back then shown in this old advert. Today all you see are 737's and Airbuses.

@TGADxerPatroni Most likely Mia. Looking at the Pines in the background but no land marks to give it away.

Ha, that 727 had "Whisper jet". That thing sounded light a rocket when it took off.

@cesar333
It was referring to Cabin noise, not outside noise
