Treyarch should of made the knife a two hit kill, sort of like Halo with its two hit melee kill. That way, knifing would be discouraged, seeing as how your opponent would be open for a gun kill after the first knife... panic knifing would disappear and commando knife lunges wouldn't be bitched about so much.
