  • thanks so much for hinting at Richard Shusterman´s "peforming live". Looked it up, seems great great writing. Surprisingly, rs is very much influenced by John Dewey (and Bourdieu). A line of thinking I felt chimed with, shared, when I started to practice art. Now, trying to gain concentration and stick to these texts. yeh, concentration. Do you know Serge Daney. Another name dropping for the moment. overcoming, yeh...

  • loeske, this is a rather complex issue, so i do suggest the hard read. i will however try to sum it up in a little while. by the way. to get a good contemporary look on the issue: richard shusterman's "performing live"

  • the statement, that conventional is the new art form, i would consider a generalisation. my humble subjective opinion. as for adorno: please read "on jazz". there you see adorno's rather biased and general verdict about popular culture and "the worker".

  • may i conclude from that statement: generalisation is the new philosophy?

  • fun is an important essence. but don´t mess around too much. once you love a woman (or a man) take her into your arms and kiss her. if not leave it. Oh, it is so windy outside.

  • or me? and on which comment are you commenting? give me an answer and don´t escape all the time.

I am a master in hypnotism. hihi

  • Is youtube part of capitalistic entertainment?

  • That´s it. that is why the entertainment industry is so much pushed. It is the drug to keep us functinal workers. one could argue.

  • one could argue... but. who is pushing the entertainment industry? who the hell is still a worker (in the sense the adorno thinks of a worker here)? why is entertainment keeping us functional? adorno had clearly a missconception of capitalistic entertainment. it is not a simple tool of sedation, it is an essential part of the metamachinery of commerce.

  • you don´t think Adorno got this- the capitlastic link? Why? He must have been a clever man. What was a worker in his conception and what is a worker today? A Worker is still a worker. What role does the worker have? To make a revolution? I need entertainment. It is the source of life.

  • raumdo. i think i relly like you.

  • thanks. still didn´t really get the explaination with the shadows. sorry.

  • welcome, did you read the "about this video" on the snow dancing? its there,

  • Fucking hell, what are you talking here about. You know, what is reality? I just come home in the evening and want to forget my shit work, my shit boss and all this pain. That is why I watch porns and action movies. I just WANT to forget. That is why I am addicted to this.

  • And if art is understood as a political form, life-enhancing long-termed, of course, we cannot disrecard ethics. but forget the idea of enlightenment. experiences experiences.

  • So what is the "special" and the "common"? and how can we still have subjectivity, only in the private? or are our actual private desires the common in society and we don´t realize it. but then suddenly different religions come into play which rip societies apart. How do they clash with desires? That is why maybe ethics is more important than ever. Can you follow me? I can´t.

  • NOW: recently I tried to understand Agamben. In his essay the "kommende Gemeinschaft" he discusses a form of living together which is, as far as I understood, very much hooked in personal desires and private life. The really crucial issue is, however, that the way of living together, public, as one can also understand it in the private, is embedded in the idea of reaching a state where the commonness is shifted from the "Besonderen" to the "Allgemeinen".

  • okay, I had some time out. try to keep up with your arguments. what do we have here now: own desires, art and theory as a separate field, ethics and morals. Lieber Mann 77: first, there is a moment when one can probably separate art and theory with own desires as an artist. I would argue that this is possible when one/the artist can separate between art as a public do and business the one side and the other side private life with the fulfillment of ones "private" desires.

  • I just want to tell you all that I am happy that this video initiated so many responses.

  • hmm, maybe there is nothing wrong to be part of the entertainment industry as a "leftist", serious artist and use the tool of entertainment for political purposes. It is only the question how. as there is nothing wrong in change and one has to think of the possibilities which come along with them (and (mis)use the way they change), to paraphrase International Festival.

  • I have the desire to fight? maybe in a war situaion also to kill. I don´t know.

Why do we have this? Is psychoanalysis still contemporary?

  • I never want to be myself in a situation of war.

  • how did you make the imagery of the video?

  • simple as pie. ripped a piece of "300". recorded the text with an old dictaphone. put it together. convert. upload. voila. g
