  • oke but this is too europeanized to much with this church choir and horon team together..

it reminds me west eu countries ( only th church is the supporter of folk culture) dislike it.. horon is charachterized as a religious practice.. !! just a frıendly comment i would like to leave..

  • @McORHAN SEVIORUM SISE KARTASLAR HEBISI LELEVOSAS ARAETS

  • They may appear that way but the costumes are actually from South Georgian tribes (Laz) who Greek colonists Hellenized and/or coexisted with since > 2000 years ago. The Laz only converted to Islam in recent centuries. Most Pontian Greeks were/are Christian and had to move to Greece under the population exchange (1922) but a proportion of them who converted to Islam remained in Pontos and still speak Greek.

  • I thank you very much for this bit of historical information it explains. You are either a well read indiavidual or a historian but knowledge is power. Thank you

  • Actually the first migration to the Black Sea coast occurred around 2000 BC with Jason and Argonauts.Minians and Aeolians and other Hellenic clans established around 2000 trading posts and cities

  • Thanks! First recorded Greek settlement was Sinop in 800 BC and thousands of settlements from that time, so ~3000 years.

Turkish guide-books on sale in the Taksim Meydane on the 1923 catastrophe: 'After the proclamation of the Republic [of Turkey], the Greeks who lived in the region returned to their own country.'

Their own country? Returned? Had lived in Pontos for ~ 3000 years - so remote from Greece, their dialect was not understandable to 20thC Athenians.

    But you can't fix stupid!
