I remember Penthouse Mag's review in '73 about this album said it could have benefited with "better songs, but it's a tour-de-force anyway". Yes it was. I bought the album that year and wish I had kept it! I especially love the song "Bad Man" and the way it ends by jumping out of time for a couple of seconds - it's so cool, you have to hear it to appreciate it. Take heart, fans... Emitt is currently hard at work finishing up his new album with assistance from Richard Thompson.
This song from his final album for Dunhill (1973) showed his increasing sophistication as well as his excellent saxophone work. If they put Emmit in the "Rock & Roll Haal Of Fame", I'd start taking that place seriuosly. THIS above is the greatest of all his albums. If you can get it, BUY IT. Best money you will ever spend.
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this album and the first one. I used to have both, till some speed freak asshole ripped off all my vinyl in 1987. Pretty sure they're out of print......HELP!!!!
Did you Emitt is back in the studio with some other musicians? And making new music?
He's got a Myspace page and I ordered a box set of his stuff from there. It has American Dreams, Emitt Rhodes, Mirror and Farewell to Paradise. So, now my problem is solved...

Great song from a great artist. A very sad destiny though. He should have gotten more appriciation - and money!
Who is the girl in the beginning of the video? Whats her relation to Mr Rhodes?
petterkp 3 years ago
Hi!
The girl at the beginning of the video is actress Evan Rachel Wood who was in the movie "Across The Universe."
There is no relation to Emitt. : )

@petterkp It's his own fault, he was souped up and mistakenly put his trusy in the record company-he paid dearly for that.
