I remember hearing this and queen of hearts on the radio a lot back in 1981 when I was 4 to 5 years old. Odd enough I have not heard this song played since then.
Wow! I never heard of Steuart Smith before. He's fantastic!!! He sounds as good as Albert Lee on the studio version! He makes his Strat sound like a Tele!
@1950BobbyF Currently touring with Don Henley band. And is rumored to resign with the eagles for a 1 yr reunion tour. Give or take there are several suitable replacements for members unable to attend.
"STEUART, YOU TELL 'EM!!" Hahaha! So he does! What an absolutely top-class guitarist Steaurt Smith is. One of the best country solos I've heard in my life. No offence to the steel player, but Steuart simply cleans up here! Of course Roseanne is great too 'I personally don't know any men like this - the band has told me about men like this!" LOL! Fantastic :-) Thanks for posting this!
It would have been nice if they had let us watch Steuart for more than a second or two at a time. They kept showing the steel player like they weren't sure who was soloing. I guess the guitar swells had them confused. I wanted to watch the guitar solo a lot more than I wanted to watch Rosanne play tambourine.
@holly2949 It's not about the tambourine or the singer. You missed the point. That guitar player was KILLING IT! ... so HE should have been "the point"; the one the camera was on. You don't get to hear guitar players like that everyday!
Thank you. I can't believe I lost this over the years. I wish this was out on DVD. John Hyatt, Rodney Crowell, THe Judds. This was an awesome show. Smith is amazing here also.

I love this woman's style and attitude. Smart, sassy and proud as the talented daughter of Johnny Cash should be. Your daddy's smiling, Rosanne.

The expression is Split the Blanket and it means to get a divorce. Just like jumping over the broom stick means to get married.

I love this song, but what the heck does "split blank" mean anyway? I mean,a guy leaves he "splits" but what does the blank mean?

There should be a law that girl singers are not permitted to play tambourine, unless the have actually studied percussion.
Steuart Smith sounds amazing though.

Really...what about the "boy singers" that play tambourine? Jeez, what year is this? C'mon! ha ha ha
holly2949 2 years ago
In general guys don't try to play tambourine, because it looks "gay".
