I do agree that if the US can jusify having nukes, than other countries should have that right. But the bigger problem is with developing nations that do not have very much invested worldwide. Iran is not secure enough in the eyes of the UN, and has not aligned itself with the US. It has also repeatedly stated it want to blow Israel off the map. Because of this, the US and Europe are skeptical of Irans intentions. But Obama also wants to get rid of the US's nuclear weapons which I do agree with.

Obama has said many times that he isn't the President, the purpose of the trip was to show those that may have had doubts about him being the President, that he could in fact be very presidential and stand alongside fellow leaders. Parents of the USA? Britain is a GodFather relationship at best while Bush is still there. You can't sense he listen's. OBAMA would. He happens to have an ACCURATE big picture view of the world.

Dude, is loved by everyone. Listening and seeing Obama gives me hope for America. My dad is white, my mom is black, within my own family I can slowly see race is not a factor in judging ppl no more. I just loved this! Obama and President Sarkozy were great. Obama has said many times that he isn't the President, the purpose of the trip was to show those that may have had doubts about him being the President, that he could in fact be very presidential and stand alongside fellow leaders. It's like he can't win for losing, people were upset he hadn't taken the trip, now they are upset because he did. Go Obama!

For one, Obama knows he's not president, but he is making a statement that he will continue diplomacy throughout the world if he does become president. Second, why would he have to wait until he becomes president to go to other countries to talk. He is smart with how he's campaigning, he is showing that not only US citizens can support his campaign, but people from around the world can rally to try to get him elected. It's not like only presidents can make speeches in different countries.

I think, outside out England, Obama would be a far more successful diplomatic president than McCain. The reaction that they get are quite different. The foreign countries seem fascinated by Obama...

For all you non-believers, Obama is CAMPAIGNING. There are no laws that restrict a candidate from traveling overseas during a general campaign. He is showing us that it is possible to co-exist in a world were the U.S. is not viewed merely as an imperialistic/plutocratic/military-driven/selfish and arrogant nation. What is the difference between his visit and McCain's? Could it be that Obama invited the press to come along and McCain didn't and the Reporters had to pay their own way to get over there to cover him? With the economy as it is, I would have saved my money as well.
McCain visited the same people as Obama and added a few; Mexico, Canada, etc. and he was not critizied.
McCain wanted this trip and it backfired in his face. He didn't think Obama would come out of it so well.

Oh please do vote for Obama. He is visiting leaders around the world to establish relations with them. John McCain and other presidential candidates do this as a matter of course since international relations are such an important part of the president's job.
I'm Canadian and I traveled to Indianapolis to help with the Obama campaign so of course I would encourage anyone to vote for Barack.

Must be frustrating to be in Senator Obama's shoes when our country is packed with people like you who always manage to fault find. People said that he needed to go to Iraq and Europe to improve his presidential standing with the voters on international affairs and security. but when he does it, there are people like you who think he looks too presidential but he is not yet president so it is a bad thing. To the chagrin of the McCain camp that goated him to go on the trip, it's a great success.

visiting foreign leaders is the normal procedure for presumptive nominees. mccain met with all of them when he clinched the nomination in march. the only difference was the media was not invited by mccain to accompany him, therefore not getting any major attention

Why is this embarrassing? If you haven't noticed, America hasn't been viewed particularly well amongst the international community due to our current administration. There's a lot of mending to be done. Seeing Obama working so masterfully amongst foreign dignitaries simply proves that he is amply capable of dealing with international affairs, which is something we should be looking for in our next president.

We might want to think about dismantling our own nuclear weapons and possibly our nuclear plants as a signal to other countries that the US is not above them. Intentionally or not, we also do not need another Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Plus I doubt many Americans would like to live near nuclear waste dump sites or know that we are sending these toxic chemicals elsewhere. If we invest in alternative energy, there will be a higher potential of job security without endangering workers or towns alike.

I'm curious to know, in the interest of foreign relations and the way America is seen throughout Europe currently during the criminality of the Bush administration; where Sen. Obama stands on the US-led plan to expand the missile defense shield to eastern Europe considering the obejections being made by the Russian govt.
Is this a necessary thing because of overtures being made from Iran and should we be concerned when Russia starts to elude to stationing bombers in Cuba.

To clarify, Iran does have an illicit nuclear program, which it claims to be using to develop a nuclear reactor so that it can export more of its oil.
In regards to an illicit nuclear WEAPONS program, most CIA and international intelligence estimates state that Iran is years away.
I hope that clarifies it a bit.

Nope, on even close, though the press played up the "nuclear program" part. They have blocks IAEA inspections and are enriching uranium full bore. If they are not working on a bomb, why do they refuse inspections as agreed to in treaty? The hard part of an a-bomb is getting the enriched uranium, not a "nuclear program". Thinking they are not working on a bomb is very wishful thinking. Just because Bush is an asshole and was wrong about Iraq, means *nothing* about Iran.
