Meh, that happens a lot. especially with Les Paul-style guitars. The strap button will often slip through the worn slit of a strap. The top button, though, on Les-Paul-like guitars, is placed in a spot that puts a lot of stress on the strap (even though the bottom one popped off).

Yeah, just run on down to Guitar Center and get a Dunlop Strap-Lock kit for like $15. It'll take a little drilling and assembling, but it's worth it!

Everyone was a beginner once. I used to record myself playing (horribly) just so I could hear and see what I was doing wrong. Maybe this guy did the same when his strap broke and decided to upload it because it seemed funny.

That's a good commercial for strap locks. I don't use strap locks though. They are too bulky for me. I have a much more economical solution, and it NEVER fails. But no one ever seems impressed with it, so I'll just keep it to myself. Hope that wasn't a les paul.
