  • Aren't nuts fruits?

  • Thanks!!! I got the whole coconut open, broken into pieces and all the fruit out, and put it in the blender with the water, I'm gonna blend it up and make coco milk!

  • @nicedayvince PS- I found that the flexible knife didn't work for me, instead my dad showed me how to use a really strong butter knife and place the shell down on a cutting board and then pry the fruit out from around the edges starting at the points.

  • wow i learned so much :D avocado is a fruit, how to open a coconut without using a bazooka and its called coconut water not milk :]

  • This guy is so seriously old school camp/kitsch/cheesy!

  • I always just shot it

  • who is the chef

  • Young coconuts are easier to open and taste way, WAY better.

  • i had to use a power drill and a hammer. i'm not kidding.

  • @formerhpguru sounds like you are out of shape. start lifting weights a couple times a week.

  • @formerhpguru

thats because you are a moron

  • I thought that you cut off your thumb :D

  • or you can hold the coconut while trying to attack it with a hatchett (I DO NOT recommend this... nearly got my hand). Managed to open it but this looks way easier.

  • For fuck's sake just tell me how to open a coconut Mr. Wizard!

  • i use c4

  • I am NOT doing that :P I would chop my hand off.

  • @MaskedGuardian0

you use the back side of the knife.

  • I was watching Sherlock Holmes after months of wanting to and when I get to watch it, halfway through I'm wondering how to crack a coconut properly other than bashing it with a hammer

  • not happening. this is hard

  • What a irresposible video. You should have made it absolutely clear that you were using the back of the blade.

  • lol haoles trying to open coconuts

  • I bought a coconut just to make the monty python horse running noise.

  • @erikesemo223 awesomeness... sheer awesomeness..

  • @erikesemo223 Don't you need two coconuts for this?

  • @HeartOfAllThings Nope, just one and cut it in half.

  • I would never do what he's doing. After draining the water out, put the coconut in 2 plastic bags. Line a bed with a plastic sheet. Blugeon the coconut in the bags with a hammer on the sheet until it smashes into pieces. Most times the meat of it will fly off the shell. The mess is contained in the plastic bags. Done.

  • The first part of the video was useless, but the rest was very helpful, thanks!

  • My mom used a hammer and it worked !! We made like a lid like hole . And next time I'm jus gonna take the Inside and pour some icy Hawaiian punch

  • Man, you showed example how to open that really easy! Thanks

  • Oops forgot to mention I whacked it using the back side of the carving knife, not the sharp side,

  • It actually worked for me! I hit it a couple times along the groove and it cracked in half almost completely. Only problem was the coconut inside was bad :-( I'm gonna get another coconut this weekend.

  • Botany Fail! Nuts are fruits too!

  • One little tidbit of information that he skips right over without saying is that he's hitting that thing with the back of the knife, not the blade. Seems like more pertinent information than water vs. milk.

  • @MrsKBonner Yes, it is.

  • my friend trying dropping it off his balcony ..

  • All this for a flippin' coconut...

  • watch out for the splinters!

  • my dad used a hammer lol

  • Thanks I got it open!!! my first one too

  • Now wait until you chop your hand off

  • WTF?! Vid don't make any sense. O.o

  • So basically you need an expensive butchers knife to make the process less tedious. I have one just sitting in my fridge that I'll never get open unless I go out and buy a hammer or something.

  • how useless was that, what if you didnt hve a bowl to catch it.

Im Polynesian an im an expert at this and the way he is doing it well waste juice

  • Lol I just hammered it till it broke in half

  • watch your thumb, you'll chop it off...

  • Wouldnt want one falling on my head, just as Sir Issac Newton.

  • I was trying to stab it lol

  • lol why am i watching this XD

  • @koyomi12341 to learn how to open a coconut?

  • worked like a charm, thanks

  • What kind of knife is he using?

  • @MisterLibertarian He's using a butchers knife...

  • @PsychedbE actually, that's a cleaver. butcher's knives have smaller blades which are good as disjointing poultry, etc. they don't cut through bone well, only the joints. that guy's cleaver has a weighted blade which makes it possible to chop through bone, or coconut

  • What kind of knife is he using?

  • @MisterLibertarian He's using a flexible steak knife... (might as well give two answers to two questions :p)

  • im h=getting a cocunut today and i dont know wow to open a cocunut

  • i beat the shit out of one with a hammer until it opens

  • @JeRzEY6495 lol

  • This coconut opening procedure is a fail

  • maybe i got a rotten coconut or something but they taste like pure ballsack sweat

  • my nut took a LOT of beating but I finally got the white stuff out, phew need a wee nap...

  • i think this man was left in a island for a looong time.

  • bought a coconut today and looked up how to open one. this is an awesome video. made it real easy. Waaaaay better than dad's way of going at it with a hammer and loosing most of the water in the process.

  • Great, I finally opened my coconut! Now, where's that lime?

  • i got a coconut it did not tast so good are u supost to eat it dry?/

  • it didn't work for us :(

  • it didnt work for us :(

  • wow i nvr knew coconut fat wuz healthy for u o.o

  • ❤ which one of the 6 things was not from the same group???? :) thx for the vid & check out my coconut-opening technnique on my page, using a simple kitchen knife! :) you'll also get to see the secret amazonian jungle chic in action ;) here's too coconuts for everyone! ❤

  • GREAT video!

  • nice doctor stuff there..

  • It worked for me! First I used the trick with pecking at the weakest hole and pouring out the water.

  • I'm whacking away at it with the back side of my heavy chef knife and nothing is happening. Isn't there like, some kind of sweet spot where the crack starts to form? This video skips that entirely.

  • Why am I watching this. Damn, you recommended videos.

  • Very informative thanks!

  • hes doing it with the back of the knife

  • Blade too close to face for comfort :/

  • CoCONuts!

  • There are a lot of coconut heads out there..

This is the first vid I've seen that cracks the problem.

    Thanx.

  • thank you I opened my coco no problem!

  • Ok thank you i was just about to bring out the chainsaw! lol

  • In Guam, we open coconuts 800X cooler than YOU!!! =D

  • Its alll lieeesssss!!!!You will be wrcking the damn knife for at least 5 hours and wont break it...ui coudlnt just throw in the floor since i live in an apartment but i figured something out of despair i grabbed an iron pot really heavy and smashed the damn coconut, i never been more happy before when killing something that damn coconut deserved its end!!!!buahbuahbuah....5 hours damn....stupid chef will split its skull

  • @WilhelmKA89 -_-

  • What type of knife was it that he used?

  • @RandompersonABC a meat cleaver

  • Pirate King, that made me Laugh!!! thx!

  • Thanks homie

  • you suck

  • WoW,thank you!

I`m smiling while eating my coconut.XD

  • Coconuts kill more people every year than sharks do.

  • @XesLanaRm Not in Australia

  • @XesLanaRm yeah, but that's when they fall out of the tree and bonk people on the head.

  • @XesLanaRm how do coconuts kill ppl?o.o

  • @Jess4568 Falling out of a tree.

  • @XesLanaRm FALSE!

The idea that cocunuts kill 15 times more people than sharks started wih a study by Dr Peter Barss. He stated that in four years only five people were killed by coconuts. The research got misread to become 150.

  • @XesLanaRm

    How come?

  • @XesLanaRm

    More info, please

  • @XesLanaRm The coconuts must be stopped.

  • @XesLanaRm i have four coconut trees in my yard :(((( this increases my chance of death by 4 times :\

  • That was great a bit involved but great thanks.

  • I ususally take a screwdriver and beat it down through two of the black spots on the end, and drain the juice. THEn i do this.

  • ohh thats why my coconut isnt opening im not hitting it , i have been staring at it for 3 hours trying to open it with my FUCKING MIND. lol

  • Don't use this method. It's incredibly dangerous and will likely destroy your cleaver. I felt lucky to get away with just a ruined knife.

  • @mherschlag

Note that he's using the blunt edge of the cleaver in the video. This would prevent damaging the cutting edge of the cleaver as well as make the procedure a lot less dangerous.

  • @iambiguouso Oh dear, how embarrassing. Thanks for clarifying.

  • Your voice excites me.

  • Who saw 3 Guys 1 Hammer? do the same thing, but with a coconut. I guarantee it works

  • @159Fender159 funny but fucked up...

  • first, take a oversized hammer and coconut in the garden, smack the coconut way to hard so it breaks down the middle in 1 blow, then put the tip of a knife between the shell and meat to loosen it up do this all around the half now insert the knife again and wiggle the meat out, works great.

  • Very good video. I was trying to find out how to remove the flesh. This video taught me that and more.

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP AND OPEN IT!

  • He cracked it with the nut in two different circumfrential directions. The second was correct, the first, was not. Watch my coconut opening video.

  • thank you so much! you saved my life!

  • Awesome method to open a coconut, just tried it and it works perfectly

  • lol i just get a fucking hammer and kill it XD

  • "see how it broke there around the perimeter." lol

  • He's lucky he didn't cut himself. Could have cut his arm of, lol)))

  • Thanx!

  • lol i feel stupide now i drunk the water thinkin it was the milk and it tasted so nasty i didnt think of mixing the white stuff inside Dx

  • @boomboom223344 but i think even the water inside by itself is delicious!

  • I hear if you put the lime in the coconut you can drink them both together...

  • If there's the outside of the coconut (the brown stuff) in your drink (I mean a lot of it, about 25% of your water) and some brown outside powder in the meat, is it still good?

  • I just smashed my coconut on the floor as hard as possible, lol.

  • He's using the spine of the knife, right?

  • What can you use if you don't have a cleaver.

  • @Ersatzbee jump on it!!

  • Thanks for the tips. However..., my dollar tree hammer fell apart, but, the concrete step at my house did the trick in no time!

  • Neither me or my husband got it in one whack, but I continuously chopped at it and it finally cracked opened. It wasn't hard nor exhausting- thanks for the video :)

  • I would have taken a blowtorch to it and hurt myself if I didnt see this. Easier than cracking an egg after your instructions.

From Canada and I guess I found coconuts intimidating.

I'll teach you how to properly carry 2 24s' of beer without hurting yourself and how to open a bottle of wine with a quarter if you'd like.

    Cheers mate.

  • like this man

  • this is more like how to lose some fingers :P

  • Anyone who has seen a walnut tree will know that a walnut is a fruit also. The seed is the nut--the same way a coconut is surrounded by fruit before it is the round hairy thing that we mostly recognize. By the way, the peach is related to the almond. (The almond is also the seed of a fruit.) If you crack open the peach pit, the seed will look like an almond.

  • I think your right about the walnut. I'ts surrounded with green fruit meat that leaves yellow/brown stains on your skin when you peel it, but you can't eat it.

  • well you can also smash it into the bowl. There is nothing special about this technique of opening the nut.

    2stars

  • soory but we already know how to crack a coconut Im a samoan but dont copy how we crack a coconut...

  • nice video :)

also about the comment at the end of the video saying coconut saturated fat is good because its not animal saturated fat is off

coconut and animal saturated fat are both good for you the whole saturated fat being bad for you has been a lie

people who eat diets with loads of saturated fats like say eskimos have 0% heart disases 0% obesity 0% type 2 diabetes

while 1 in 2 amaricans who eat low saturated fat diets will have or die from a heart attack

  • wow! cool! i used to hammer one of the 3 holes and drink the water from the hole. After that i wrap the nut a newspaper and a plastic bag and I throw it on the window :)) Its not very fast but it's fun xD

  • I didn't have a heavy enough knife and so used a small hammer. It worked great!

  • hey cool trick it worked well. thanks

  • Worked perfectly. Was afraid I might need more force and it would be too loud but that wasn't the case. His way definately works better than survivormans, cause I tried that out and got frustrated.

  • Thank you veeery much! :)) :D

  • awesome video thank you very much! I needed to find out how to get the meat out of the coconut, now i know!

  • very knowledgeable man. thank you for posting.

  • Excellent HOW TO instructional video. Good camera work too. Excellent clarification on vegetable vs. animal saturated fats. Coconuts are really beneficial.

  • I NEver Knew that, The Way I Use To Open Coconuts Was to GoOutside And Smack Against the Wall

  • ok, so wat do u do when ur trying to make both sides even so u can make hourse hoof noises?

  • Nothing beats a big green fresh coconut... not that brown dry thing. thai coconuts ftw

  • and the debate continues.... coco "nut"

  • Retad got it from the mexikanz...,, they do it that way. U whoore!

  • thx i bought a coconut this really helps:)

  • @100blade were can i buy one i live in newfoundland

  • this guy is hitting it way too hard. do what he did except rotate the coconut hitting around the axis and about half the force this guy is using. it make take a few revolutions but you will get nice even half's.

  • Use a hammer.

  • mate... I can open the coconut, take the flesh out and make milk the hardway before you even open yours....

    hahaha... sorry

Oh, and, i get the flesh out with a butterknife and even with a spoon

  • coconuts are a lie

  • I had to use a hammer on mine and it turned out it was fermenting. Smelled like alcohol and when I tried a bit it was disgusting. Almost gave me a stomach cramp..How disappointing.

  • Rofl, I tried to smash the coconut to the ground to open it :p

Didn't work, now let's see if this is any better

  • that was cool i didnt know that coffee was a fruit lol and thankls for the vid
