Guys, look: I think there may be ghosts in the world. But THIS. IS. JUST. DUST. These kinds of "evidence", especially when shown on television, just make MORE skeptics. This is DUST.  People tell stories about giant black figures and true-to-life apparitions, then they set up the camera and film moths, fog and dust particles. It's bad for business.

If ghosts exist (and I think they do), these pseudoscientific investigations don't help it at all. They do nothing more than hurt the truth. If you see a dust fly in front of camera, it's not a ghost.

You have to talk to these "believers" like you would be talking to a child, and they still don't get the message.

Get a better hobby, like proving that ghosts are real.

But this ghost hunting culture has nothing to do with real ghosts, in case they really exist.

Faces in windows, dust particles as spirits, EVPs... If you are really encountering ghosts, invite the spirit to come by your house for a cuppa and take a couple of scientists with you. That's a proof.

In order to actually prove ghosts are real we have to take every piece of evidence into account. Orbs are a phenomena some people believe in and there are some convincing orb potos and footage, for example faces in orbs, and the fact that you can record a room that is absolutely full of dust for an hour or two and only capture one or two orbs which sometimes move in very strange ways.

Even a 10,000 pieces of disputable evidence doesn't equal one piece of good evidence. Each one of them can be labeled as hoax, misunderstanding or some natural phenomenom, because it's always a less incredible explanation. Science works that way.

On the other hand, I don't think it's ever really possible to actually "prove" ghosts. "Proving" ghosts is a little paradoxal.

What people believe in doesn't hold any value to the science.

Because the camera is set to nightvision and we think its more sensitive to anything that may reflect light (even slightly)

You could say its dust, but out of all the areas we film that are full of dust we only capture a few of these anomalys (say 4 or 5) at the most within about a 2 hour period. And just think how much dust there is when you shine a torch on it or look at it in the sunlight.

I'm a believer in ghosts/spirits/paranormal, but i have to say that I have a hard time believing that orbs are spirits. Sure it'd be cool if "orbs" were a real phenomenon, but the ones that are caught on any type of media are probably just dust.

Well there are some pretty good arguments that they are more than just dust. For something to show up like that it has to be reflective and those are almost pitch black rooms and 1 or 2 are completey pitch black.

And in these conditions when you compare what is actually captured on camera to the amount of dust that was actually floating around then you wonder why there isnt be a lot more.

but your cameras have nightvision, which is shining a bunch of light at the room which only the camera can pick up, this light is reflecting off of any crap that floats /flys its way through the coverage of the light.

some dust is too small to be picked up unless its really strong light but every now and then you get clumps of dust that are larger, or insects which show up a lot better, and create these 'orbs'

i am amazed at the amount of paranormal researchers who swear this to be evidence of ghost activity, i presume this is because these anomolies are the Only type of 'evidence' captured during the investigations.
