  • Alright mate do u need a licence for the 17 and f so how do I go about getting one I'm from Liverpool

  • Yes, you will need a firearms license. I think there is a video on fieldsports1 channel about license application - a link to his channel is on my 'other channels' list on my channel.

I do intend doing a video about application but its been so long since i got mine I don't know if there are new requirements and rules since I applied years ago.

  • @Antw1984

yes you do need a licence for a 17hmr( fac)try going on to your local force's web site all the info will be on thier, and you can seach the net forums etc for more info m8

  • that is so stooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooppppppppppppppppppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

  • Thanks mate, realy like watching your vids just gettin into this sport and find your videos very interesting and you sound prity local by your accent lol happy hunting

  • The only hunting I do regularly now is when I'm out with the metal detector - lol.

  • And your killing rabbits why??? are u going to eat them?? i don't think so

  • Why are you using so many question marks? Do you need to use them? I don't so.

  • @pondguru ive just watched all of your videos and found them very helpful and informative with regards to the gun i need for the land i have to protect. thank you

in regards to badmanfann's comment i have 15acres of allotments plagued with rabbits that eat half of the fruit and veg that everyone grows. they all eat the rabbits i shoot and the rest get sold to the local butcher but regardless the rabbits need to be controlled.

  • Glad you found them useful. I don't see the need to show creatures getting shot, even though those videos would no doubt get hundreds of thousands of views, so its good when someone appreciates the message of thinking more about the processes involved before the trigger is pulled as thats the important stuff.

Accuracy and efficiency are always top of the list but if you also see a good amount of wildlife by creeping about then that makes for an even better day shooting.

  • @pondguru i think you've made some good videos and found them to be the most useful on the web. im now thinking along the lines of a ruger 10/22 semi auto using subsonic it looks good for the job not to overkill. i look forward to your next video and anything you can do to show the ruger and possibly its effective range would be appreciated. cheers!

  • I will do some more videos on target shooting with the .22 and .17HMR when I get the time, no worries.

  • No worries - thanks for watching.

  • your bald and youve a cool goatie

  • YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT TO KILL OTHER ANIMALS,BELIEVE ME WHAT GOES ROUND COMES ROUND.THEIR WILL COME A DAY YOU WILL REGRET EVETY INNOCENT ANIMAL YOU KILLED!!

  • I could just delete this comment but by using capital letters for the whole rant, you have practically done that yourself.

    Good for you.

  • @TheBowieman Hunting like bondguru is doing it would be most humane way to rabbit to go greeier pastures. if you thin other possibilities how rabbir dies to eat from the living by fox or falcon, get diseased and starv to death, when hunter shoot rabbit death comes in seconds not in minutes, hours, or days. think about that hippie

  • @TheBowieman dance magic dance!

  • I'm into the whole bushcraft and wildlife watching thing but would be into hunting a lot more if it wasn't frowned upon so much by people with an uneducated view of the real world. A perfect day out for me would be to take all 4 of my kids out into the wilds, sleeping in hammocks then up early for a spot of hunting for dinner. 3 out of my 4 kids know how to skin a rabbit but have never shot one due to todays current restrictions.

Cheers for posting the vids, always learning.

  • No worries. I wish I had more time to get out with my kids but damn work gets in the way.

    Thanks for watching.

  • Nice one chap! Helpful as always and well played with the flatulence!

  • One 'dislike'?

    Damn you, Mr Fox.

  • Thankyou for responding to my comments regarding shooting animals, but most go shooting because they enjoy killing, thats my opinion, and its your choice,I'm just saying I don't.I've got 1000s of starlings take the food put out for the birds and would like more of the smaller unusual birds feeding but theyve got a battle on with the starlings, but I dont go out and shoot them.i went to that video because I was intrigued it was a hobby of yours.didnt watch more than a few seconds as I was commenting.

  • @drjazzisme if your house was infested and plagued by rats...to the point no matter how many humane ways you try to catch and release them, they just keep multiplying, so the numbers dont decrease at all.....then im sure you would hire someone to 'cleanse' the house for good....this applies to the agricultural economy where rabbits cost millions of pounds..but i prefer one shot one kill over the labratory version of Myxomatosis which basically starves the animal to death in a very cruel way.

  • Educating people on how to be more humane (yes, a more efficient killer if you will) is very important to me as I see so many people uploading videos where they are just whacking away and wounding animals which is just plain cruel.

One shot one kill is also how I approach the subject of vermin control too but there will always be plenty of people who don't understand that. I could just delete any negative comments but I choose to leave them on and give everyone a say.

  • @pondguru yeah alot can't understand a clean kill...when they see there legs freeze and nerves kick they assume there in agony....in reality they probably didnt even hear the bullet (crack) shot from the barrel...thats how fast it is.

  • No worries, your honesty is appreciated.

You must have watched the last seconds though as thats where I mentioned communists....

  • @drjazzisme Thats ok,and thanks to you also for not slagging me off, deleting or barring. And although I did expected to find comments directed at me telling me F..K off,I've only had 2 putting their understandable viewpoint, and one giving an unreasonable argument about animals not having the right to live peacefully on this earth.yes I did see last few seconds off video, but as you can see to write a comment we have to scroll down which means I didnt watch video. But i did hear you say communist.

  • I have noticed that the videos where animals are being shot seem to attract stupid sweary comments and its rare for my videos to do so - Its almost like the sort of people who want to see animals die for fun just switch my videos off after a couple of seconds once they realise its all talking.

  • Oh,and by the way I'm as far away from being a communist as one can get.Anyway I do enjoy your metal detecting, fish keeping and pond building videos.

  • .....

I purposefully put specific titles on my videos to inform people what the content is and with regard to the shooting videos, I intentionally do not upload any footage of vermin control as it may offend some people.

I appreciate everyone who subscribes to my channel and understand that people sub for different reasons but can't understand why some will watch videos about topics which they either have no interest in or are offended by. Thats why I put them in specific playlists.

  • I'm sorry mate but I can't understand that someone who seems on one hand to love wildlife in the form of fishkeeping and makes a living from it,incredibly loves the hobby of killing wildlife such as foxes, rabbits, birds, and maybe otters if you get the chance.Don't they have a right to live peacefully on this earth,we all know they have to take their chances with natural predators.Do you fancy your chances on the run with armed people hunting you down to shoot you??I think not!!

  • On the face of it, life is full of of contradictions. I do love to observe wildlife but control vermin in areas where it is a problem. My land is loaded with rabbits but they don't affect the land or local stock so they aren't a problem. I like to see them.

I really don't like Beyonce's rubbish and I wouldn't watch a video or listen to any of her 'music' by choice. If I did, then commented on it, I would feel a bit strange.

  • @drjazzisme They are all over populating the country side thats why we need to keep the numbers down.

  • @drjazzisme 'Don't they have a right to live peacefully on this earth?' Short answer being... No they don't... This land is owned and used to feed families. Keeping pest populations low keeps people alive. When an ant colony invades a warren do you think the bunnies are having debates on whether or not the ants have a right to stay?

  • Lol great vid...

  • Oh do you need a licence? Please do a vid explaining all that, like where you get your guns from etc

  • It is on my (long) list of 'to do' vids, yes.

  • Call of duty came to mind when I saw this video lol. Shame you can't put up a video of you shooting

  • I can post videos of actual shooting but I have to think of the people who subscribe to me and don't like shooting - you just know they will watch and flag or 'dislike' - and unsubscribe, so I keep this channel guides only.

  • LOL! 10 out of10 for 10.10 . :--)

  • I thought you'd appreciate that, man. I'd initially edited it out but put it back in as a laugh.

  • haha nice vid mate...even my (slightly merry) wife had a good laugh at the 'smell' moment lol...hopefully i might have my licence again by the summer...so not the optimum time for lamping but should be ready for the winter!

  • Summer is the optimum time for daytime 'orgy of death' - especially after the mild winter. I've got well grown young rabbits in my garden already.

  • @pondguru haha yeah got a few little ones running round mine (time to teach the new pup to catch the blighters)

  • Great vid as always! Thumbs up for the fart! :)

  • punkrok put a coloured filter on if rabbits and charlies been hammered by the white light they tend to know what it is and will shy away from it i use a coloured filter on places where i have hammered red filters usually best but i have a green and a blue one too

  • Dead right. A filter also cuts down on the glare which can be visible from miles around so reduces the amount of people who see you out and could possibly complain.

I forgot to mention in the video about lamping in woodland too - a white light reflects too much - I tend to use a red filter and can see much better through the trees.

  • @pondguru how do whats this .17 not familiar with this we use a 243 rifle for charlies and a 22 on bugs basic winchester rounds with hollow point for 22 and 80 grain for 243 thats as far into the ammo and rifles ive gone ony had to go for 243 as where we live pretty built up wanted a little smaller but bobbys said need to go bigger less chance of riccochets or something like that how many charlies ya doing a yr up there mate

  • I generally don't go out after foxes as there are some keen pheasant shooters locally who clean them up for me.

The .17HMR uses a .22 magnum rimfire cartridge so has the charge of a standard magnum, with a tiny .17 balistic tip round which whips out at around 2450 f.p.s.

Rabbits up to half grown can be just about halved with a precise shot so there is an awesome amount of power there. The chance of ricochet is tiny as the round explodes on impact.

  • @1981copey Will look into getting one, thanks mate

  • I'd love to have somewhere like that to shoot.

  • nice video and nice fart lol thanks for the advice

  • Lol I saw your comment in my subs feed and had to watch to see what happened! Yup, that would frighten a buffalo away never mind a rabbit!

  • I don't wanna smell you either :D

  • @pondguru that was hilarious. ;) maybe they did not watch the whole video???? Who knows. Seriously funny.

  • Hahaha lol that was so funny. Along with the priceless face. Omg I am not gonna get that out of my head. 10:10 ;)

  • laughing my head of at 10:10 lol

  • Hahahaha I read the 10:10 comment just before it happened, brilliant!

  • will u ever shoot anything?

  • Not on this channel as there are so many people who have subscribed to me for wildlife / fish videos etc. and in this PC world all it takes is for some tools to flag the video and I loose my channel or Youtube partner status (which I make money from).

I've already had one video removed but the strike on my account has gone now - I can't risk another one, or two.

  • @pondguru do you have any other websites were you go hunting

  • How has no-one commented on the video at 10:10? - I was proud of that.

  • @pondguru You want to make sure any rabbits dnt get wind of that mate lol

  • Great vid man

  • great vid m8

  • Nice video thanks!!

  • Nice video mate, went out spotlighting on the weekend but when I got the rabbit into the beam it doesn't stop or freeze at all. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong? Very powerful spotlight so I doubt that would be the problem.

  • Try holding the lamp far above the intended target so there is just enough light to see it through your scope as too much light can freak them out.You could also try using a coloured filter if they have are lamp-shy.

Getting between them and safety is a sure fire method with rabbits as they have nowhere to run.
