17 Universities and ball clubs tried to recruit Larry, but he had no desire to play proffesionally. He focsed on helping his parents (as the older brother on a farm) and studies. Quite a guy.

@keomacfarlane After a few years in the NBA with all the intense training mike got compared to his brother....I highly doubt larry could still beat mike.....the greatest basketball player of all time....for a reason...plus mike was taller..stronger...best mid range game ever...best moves ever....played against the best defenders and torched them..another like LJ may have the same talent in a sense, but not the ability to do and impact the game MJ did...that was a unique gift...MJ is the greatest

@jonnyrisas Not necessarily, their are plenty ghetto stories of amazing basketball players who made bad choices w/ their life, slam magazine did a special on some of these players not too long ago....there is no math to be done about it lol, mj was just smart enough to make the right choices w/ his life and be ahead of his time....hes probably the best known player to the world, but i highly doubt hes just the best period to ever touch a basketball.

If you're wondering he wrote about it in his book how early on he used to lose all the time which is why he started working hard on his game. once he got his game together he started winning but he give larry all the credit for making him work hard to be better.

@keomacfarlane Larry actually played semi pro ball in the 6'4" and under league for the Chicago Express... the father worked at GE and the mother at a local bank and neither worked a farm,.. they lived in a upper middle class brick home on Gordan road very near where I-40 is now (i lived off of Gordan road) in fact they had a full court in their front yard that could be seen from the road as you drove by.
