  • Great job dude!! I am realy impressed!

  • Infreakincredible! mr bozzio would be proud...as would mr zappa. extremely well done...nice job on every signature change.

  • i thought this was the black page, by animosity. check it out, it has a very positive energy

  • How do you even write this music ?? Zappa was a genious !

  • omg....that's so good :D

  • cover animosity's the black page

  • Really impressive man! How did you go about learning this? Surly you didn't just do it by ear memorising the time signatures?! Good work!

  • Very NICE!

  • Nice job!

  • Decent effort. Nice cadence.

  • This is impressive! Its impressive when anyone has feel and chops like that. You are16!!! Dynamics where great. The 16s to 3s where perfect! Very tricky stuff! Not Joey J. or Travis B. bullshit...This is real music.

  • Gj though i see some flaws. Great technique

  • Hey man. Way to get a start on this challenging stuff so early.

  • amazing! just wow well done!

  • hell yeah!

  • Nice job Michael! You have a band?

  • great work man!!!

  • TUNE YOUR TOMS

  • Way good... any 16 year old that aspires to play the drums and fill Terry B's shoes has my respect... sounds good kid..keep it up

  • Nice..................

  • dude...fuck what anybody says- this is BAD ASS! great job!

  • awesome

  • Damn, you kids. You give me hope.

  • Vraiment tres impressionant!!!

  • damn, impressive

  • great chops!

  • BRAVO!

  • i wanna play like you do

  • your really great!!

  • dude you're good 5 stars

  • wwhhaaoo c'est génial ce que tu fais !!!!

  • AHAHHAHAAHAHHA I thought this was an Animosity - The Black Page. But no... ROFLMAO!

I think that I can play this too...

  • so did I! i was like wtf?

  • no you can't x)

  • This is poorly played. And he didnt sucessfully do the tuplets within tuplets and all that. How many of you have actually saw the score of this?

  • Poorly played? Who are you? So you saw the score on this and now you're god? Where's YOUR video?

Excellent job man. Nothing "poorly played" about this at all. Some schmuck wants to give you criticism without bucking up his own video to the world, there's nothing you can do about that. Just keep on rockin like you are man, you're doin just fine. Better than fine dude. You're doin great! Borralhooo is a nimrod with no life obviously, so don't listen to him.

  • Poorly played? Who the fuck are you? Terry Bozzio? No, I'm sure to you, Terry Bozzio sucks! BTW, where's YOUR video BorralWHO?

Keep it up dude. There's nothing POOR about this performance at all. You'll find that, as a musician, the negative comments you receive will typically come from no-talent losers who think they are gods gift to the critic world.

There are 2 kinds of people, people with talent, and critics who think they KNOW EVERYTHING.

You rock man, keep up the amazing drumming!

  • PS. It's "how many of you have actually SEEN the score".

You being perfect and all, I'd have thought you would have have retained some of what you learned in 3rd grade grammar. Oh, that's right, you dropped out of school at 7 to become a world renowned drum critic....

  • i bet u have rock band dont you

  • The answer to that is a resounding "who gives a fuck!".

'have you seen the score of this", indeed!!

  • @milkminotaur The insane score is the one to Black Page #1...not that this isn't tough, too. I love your groove, man...you really feel it.

  • @milkminotaur The insane score is the one to Black Page #1...not that this isn't tough, too. I love your groove, man...you really feel it.

  • how much around would you say is all your set costing ya...with hardware and cymbals and yea everything lol

  • probably close to $1000

  • nice mike

  • Obit says, "death metal?????" Quit drinking your bath water and go take a music lesson. The age is relevant; 16?! This is superb playing for 16. This guy gets a 10 from me because I know how difficult this comp is. Lot's of 5's, 7's and half note triplet subdivisions. This kid did an awesome job navigating the phrasing. Obit probably thinks hamburger comes from a pig. I'm impressed this young guy challenged himself to such a high degree. Keep practicing and maintain high goals for yourself.

  • not to mention tuplets within tuplets

    fuck man

    this is amazing

  • This is The Black Page #2. It's The Black Page #1 that's the hard version. This one's easy compared to #1.

  • yes you are correct

  • Regardless, you rule. Especially for 16. Way to go dude.

  • bravo!! :D :D nice playing

  • nice

  • Aha i thought this was ging to be an ANIMOSITY cover... my bad

  • Kid, I want to hear more.

    - Ringo Starr

  • dude.....that was awesome

  • Good effort! but you need to count out and follow the 5,7 and 11 note groupings in the song to really give it an extra lift.

  • great work!

everybody's looking forward to your future!*****

  • What a great future in music you should have. Very well done!!

  • led zep + rush makes for an excellent Zappa drummer! cool shirt Mike, nice sounding kit - you're on the right track (from this zep/rush/zappa fan) check out my videos ...

  • Not to be a dick, but the age was not needed. Unless it's the hardest Death Metal song in the world, which this is not.

  • clearly you dont know much about zappa. or this song.

i do love the death metal, but metal drumming, deathmetal at least is mostly about technique and staminia. if you can hold a blast with fast double kicks for a long time you're in. This song takes a stupid amount of skill the learn and the play. well done dude!

  • You do realize this is a composition, right? It's not just a random drum solo...Your average death metal drummer, no matter how mindlessly fast they can play, would likely have a tough time nailing this peice. The fact that this kid is playing a composed piece of percussion music is far more impressive than some dick in corpse paint trying to sound like a jackhammer.

  • why death metal? that genre is only technique without feel or variance, anyone dumb enough to practice the same 2-3 patterns over and over can do death metal, thing is most of the drummers want more of their drumming experience.

  • Like IT :]

  • I love the sound of this kid's drums.

  • Hmm.. your name is very similar to a friend of mine...

LOL HE'S NAME IS MICHAEL OCAMPO XDD

  • HNahahah, thats hilarious.

  • Sweet! Any band would do well with you backing them up! ;)

  • fucking rock on dude!! :)

  • nice job man and cool sounding set. do u use sabian cymbals or zildian?

  • paiste

  • somewhere zappa is smiling at you :) ;)

  • damn dude this rules. I'm in the process of learning The Black Page #1 and it's a beast

  • awesome playing, but use more of the toms and less cymbal.

  • you can't say that! just let him flourish naturally the way he wants! geez you can't enforce your will on others.

  • simply... AWESOME!!! Here you're 16... Hope you will find your way in music... You're talented!!!

  • shit nigga.

    your good :)

  • i've read the comment of SPARDAKING from 3 mths age and all i can say is that he's PURE GELOUS and YOU ROCK !!! - keep up the good work and keep FZ as a practice guide

  • Hey your really good.

  • Don't get carried away....better than Terry? Hey dude, I'm sure you know this, but you rock! Very accomplished! Good for you man! Very very cool! Beats the shit out of watching TV!!!!!! Frank loves you! Bark!

  • you play this better than terry bozio himself

  • Bravo !!!!

  • i clicked on this expecting to be blown away by a 16 year old playing the black page by animosity, and what i got was blown away by a 16 year old playing playing black page #2. good show.

  • amazing dude!!!!!

  • After having seeing you drumming this, I will stop drumming. You get a 9/10 from me!

  • I'm impressed that was killer, you must have been practicing that for months..?

  • Nice work!

  • Awesome

  • great drumming dude

  • hey are they aquarians on the toms??

  • Yeah they're Acquarians but I forget which kind.

  • wow man, your drums sound great...

  • Amazing..

    5 * + respect.

Also remember saying thanks to those people that let you reherse this in-sane piece of music ;))

  • Very impressive.

  • Great job man, got to be one of the most challenging drum scores.. you want to drum in my band? lol

  • lars ulrick's only drum accomplishment was keeping 4/4 time like ne other 12 year old can do... i will say he can do some good shit when he tries to, but he gets to much damn credit to just do simple beats... neil pert plays as many beats on the drum in one song as it takes lars to do 2 songs

  • looks like my yamaha dp series, same mounting system for the toms by the looks of it

nice chops bra, got me beat hahaha thanks for the inspiration

  • you came all over this song dude. good job! kick ass

  • Amazing.

  • well..it's better than my kit =']

    I really need a new one ,,, :P

  • excellent :)

  • This is very cool, if you had an entire kit, needed to really play this, you'd get it no problem after practicing a bit.

  • Great chops man..

  • campo you are one crazy ass motha fucka. hope the drums are still goin well fo you. tell mr. wol i say what up.

    KOF

  • this kids fuckin good. And hes actually playing good music- not like pantera or metalica or shitty music like that.

  • avp715, how dare you insult lars ulrich, your clearly a metallica fan, you can't even spell it, you must be a retard, music taste and mentally, if you can't spell 'metallic' and add an 'a'

  • I actually hate Metallica and think Lars Ulrich is way to arrogant.

  • Nice performance, really good especially considering your kit! props to you.

  • Who fucks Lars Ulrich??Nobody gives a shit about him. They boy is cool.He changes his hands on the set preety easy.He seems to have it.Well done and if you are taking lessons(I m almost sure you do) keep studing.

  • wow!

  • your bad ass brotha keeep goin, ill see you on tour

  • I love how the you can hear the audience on the CD cheering so it sounds like they're cheering you on! :)

  • cool man i can dig

  • how long have u been playing? and how do you get ur hand/wrists to move more free'er and looser to perform better fills??

  • In this video I was playing for almost four years. A good way to strengthen your wrists is to practice all your rudiments. (Especially singles, doubles, and paradiddles)

  • thanks alot :) dom famularo requested that too when i had a masterclass with him

  • hey man nice playing for shure, how did you learn this-did you use a chart? i got a whole bunch of joes garage tunes charted out and its mad fun to play

  • No, I just kept listening to it until I finally could get my head around it

  • you're amazing man!!

  • its actually zappa all these bozzio people.

  • i wouldnt dare touch a zappa song until I had at least 10 years of drumming under my bealt. the fact you can nail something as tough as the black page at 16 is verging on godlike. very well done man!

  • Nice playing for sure. Great tone, and good accuracy.

  • Absolutely fantastic! You have a great future ahead of you as a drummer! Keep up the good work.

  • wow..a 16 year old bozzio fan...pretty sweet man

  • excelent!!!!!!!

  • This is amazing. Why aren't all drummers like him?

  • This is great. The drums and cymbals even sound like Bozzio circa 1977.

  • 2.12 onwards . wow

  • what heads r u using man??? please reply

  • I believe that those are Aquarian heads.

  • big Respect!

  • Well... it didn't suck :P, and there for 5 stars

  • Excellent work! Not perfect, but that's a tough piece to play.

  • excelent! congratulations!

  • awsome dude!!!!

  • WOW... I'm Impressed. Now my punk fillings sound average

  • he would wear a RUSH shirt while doing this great drumming sweet

  • that was crazy

  • Well, kid you've got great technique and feel. Don't ever stop playing. You're an exceptional talent.

  • BRAVO!!! :-)

  • This is a pretty good video of a drummer riffing on a Zappa standard (especially from 2:20 onward), but several fills you hear in this video are Terry Bozzio's from the "Baby Snakes" recording, which is being played in the background. (@SkataKPonos: There are technically two "Black Pages"—the second is a more beat-heavy version of the first.)

This performance isn't technically the composed drum part, but playing that would require a huge setup (see videos of Bozzio doing it). Still—nice chops!

  • amen brothers

  • what snare are you using? sounds a little dull

  • Incredible work!!!

  • XELENT work loads of breaks and changes to remember very very well done..

u should go out and have fun too sometimes m8

  • bravo!

  • how many black page's did zappa compose?

  • There is only one Black Page by Zappa! The others are just wannabes! Zappa wrote it with Bozzio some years ago!

And this guy is playing the original! Right on!

  • No. The easy answer is two... sort of. The very first Black Page was a drum solo, written for Terry Bozzio. Once Bozzio could play it, Zappa augmented it with a melody (to the same basic rhythm) and chords, and that's "The Black Page, Part One, The Hard Version", as he puts it on Zappa In New York.

  • Actually, Frank gave that to Terry Bozzio as his audtion piece. He aced it and the rest is DrumGod History.

But this young guy would be in-line for Franks band... if...

  • this wasn't terry's audition piece he was playing with zappa for about two years when frank handed him this piece

  • Been playing drums for close to 20 years.

You're great. Don't ever stop. To be able to do this is something that sets you apart.

  • great job man!! very entertaining, can't believe you memorized it

    i like your snare

  • am jealous!and am 45 years old.nice one mate!

  • damn... when you see it played on a normal-ish sized kit, instead of all those monsters tb plays on it looks much easyer..

    not saying it is easy..

but i reacon i could learn this with a weeks solid practice..

  • FZ would be proud, in fact he'd probably give you an audition!

  • RESPECT! FZ would be proud!

  • Fantastic work! my hats off, Dude

  • Well dude... you're already a good drummer. At this point it's just time for some advice to improve, because you're skilled enough to improve a lot. Your hand position on your sticks is a little low. You could gain a lot of precision and nasty control if you just move your fulcrum up an inch or two and grip the sticks a bit more. I think with that small bit of extra control you could shred some serious shit.

    Keep it up bud.

  • haha nice rush shirt! killer drums dude

  • kick ass

  • Really good man.

  • gooood!!!!!!! u are graet man!!!!!

  • Very cool.

Is that a Rush shirt to?

Wonder why the boy likes druns so much???

If he sets his standards as high as Neil Peart and Terry Bozzio this kid is set for great things.

  • great job. keep it up man, it sounds great

  • Zappa probably would have wanted you as his drummer! You are damn good!

  • ur fukin brilliant

    how long u been playin

  • Thanks man. I've been playing for 4 years

  • Brilliant! keep it up!

  • yo homeboy, do you!!!!

  • "Music is the best"

I'm glad to see Zappa lives on!

    This kid is incredible.

  • Wow.

  • very cool man i'm 16 but i can't play that shit!!

  • Sounds good. Sounds like you are using compression.

  • who the hell does this kid think he is playing zappa at 16

  • Start a band.

  • This kid is going places...

  • Nice job! I think you may be ready for "the hard version"! Please alert me to your posting. You got some talent kid!

  • I really do like your performance, keep on playin' in this way!

  • Tooooooo cooooooooolllll!!! Way da go!

  • its pretty amazing that he can do that, but wen Bozio or Wakerman play it they have a shitload more drums...

    nice effort kid =)

  • yeah ok the kid is good but the song wont relate to any youth and for that this song = lame

  • Dont be so stupid he obviously does relate to it. I was deeply into all sorts of shit when I was 16.

  • If the world's greatest composers and musicians based their musical ambitions on "what the youth relate to," we'd have no Zappa, Hendricks, Metheny or Corea. All we would have is what we have now: droll, inane, stale, boring, cookie cutter pop music.
