The first Sonic I played, which was the first game I've ever played, was Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis. It was there my love of Sonic blossomed. I'm 15 and still am a die hard Sonic fan. I love all the games, yes that includes Sonic 06. True Blue is way past cool!

I actually have owned this game and a 32X. The music is THE best part of it and the graphics are amazing as well. Unfortunately this game suffered from embarrassing bosses and only had 5 tile sets (backgrounds/level visuals) for the 25 levels you played, not to mention some of the worst special stages of all time. It's extremely fun at first, but gets old FAST due to repetition.

Wow... this music... I never played that game, but this tune... it perfectly hits the nostalgic nerve to where it's almost aching.

These synths... only the MegaDrive/Genesis was capable of playing tunes like this. This shows that it was indeed able to play very good sounding music, if used right.

I'm really close to shed a tear only by listening to this. Something that kids today won't ever get, I'm sure.

@mensk1987 Yuzo Koshiro could always get "The AWESOME" from the Gen sound chips, but I think this was the only game that took advantage of the 32x's sound abilities.

The 32x added 2 PWM channels giving the Genisis 12 channels up from 5 FM/ 4PSG channels as well as making it capable of wavetable synth via software on one of the 32x's CPU's. Throw in the Sega CD and you get a total of 20 audio channels, redbook audio, mode 7, and 10 CPUs, if you add the sound chips.

SNES just got 256 colors. :P

@slightlyevolved The Genesis technically had 6 FM channels, but as the 6th could be instead used as an 8-bit DAC most games only used 5, one advantage of having the SCD or the 32X was using the PWM, PCM or just software instead and freeing up the FM channel.
