  • Hello, man! One such generator is monophonic, right? So, for buchla's polyphony you need several items?

  • @srettab Well strictly speaking there's two oscillators in one of these generators so you can coax two notes out of it simultaneously although you will be missing some of the modulation power. So basically yes, it is monophonic.

  • @7thDanSound Thank you!

  • I think Im going to sample this entire video and put in my octattrack :)

  • @aikighost Thanks! But no need to sample, I've put it up on my SoundCloud page, no links allowed here so go look for 7thdansound over there and you shall find!

  • Hey there, what kind of scope are you using? I'd like to get into scoping my stuff. Thanks.

    -R

  • @spindizzyman It's a Hung Chang scope I got cheap a while back. Analog and crude but I like it. Until it broke on me that is :( I have to find me a new one as I have no scope fixing skills whatsoever...

  • What other modules are you using?I'm asking 'cause the 259e is not directly compatible with a eurorack for example...

  • @kevinnowhow I recently got a 292e and 281e to complement the 259e. I also have a 258v on loan since some time. See my later movies for more on those :)

Compatible with euro, well that depends. If you mean cable wise there's remedies for that, if you mean voltage wise, well sure but still, there's remedies for that too. I would, however, not try to mix the Buchla. It's a thing of it's own and should be used as such. At least that's my experience.

  • @7thDanSound Thanx for the quick response.Much appreciated!

  • Can you copyright a waveform?

  • @Kabzoer Probably not. But they are sample, although short, and carefully crafted as well. So I thought I'd be careful not to potentially harm the business of a small hard working vendor. I asked the good people at Buchla about it and they had no problems with it at all so I posted a follow up. See my Episode 48.

  • 100000000000000000 likes for a demo with oscilloscope!

  • @synthmonger Thanks! There's a few more with the scope, check them out too!

  • Beautiful, both aurally and visually!

  • Don't worry. Waveshapes can't be patented or copy-righted. The implementation of said technology is the important part. Next time, just show 'em.

  • wicked

  • This is yet another thing I gotta clone, at least the waveshaper. I really love the FM sounds the Buchla can do. Also, even if you added the oscissoscope for fun, it would be nice if you adjusted the sync level, so the waveform doesn't fly all over the place. (Assuming your oscilloscope can do that, but most of them can, even the old ones.)

  • @Gameboygenius Actually I had the oscilloscope all synced up very nicely but then I thought the good Buchla people might not like that. Copyright infringement or what have you. It is a wavetable device after all. So I played safe and set the sync totally out of whack.

The waveshaping and FM really is wild on this thing!

  • That's right. I like this module 259e. It's very complementary at 261e...

  • @deb7680 I wouldn't mind a 261e to go with it but I think I'll have to prioritize a few other modules first...

  • Sounds great!

  • I love these modules - could play with it for days. I'm going to have to get one. Oh no...

  • @sduck409 They are awesome, you won't regret getting one!

  • very cool! branching into buchla, are you??

Uh, by accident, I listened to this video while I had Telescopic Memorial by The Flashbulb playing in the background. I mixed the two to appropriate levels and it sounded kind of nice at least for the first couple of minutes (then you took your module into another dimension! : )

  • @spinach0pizza Indeed I am :) Albeit veeery slowly. Cool how it fit with the other music you had running, unfortunately I was unable to find it in Spotify to hear for myself...

  • @7thDanSound I think you can find it on Flashbulb's Bandcamp page.

  • @spinach0pizza Indeed I could! And you were right, awesome :) And thanks for turning my attention to them, that was a great bandcamp site!
