maybe a aluminun block LEXUS from a LS 400. You car is clean but I used to have a 2.3 and the power is a desapointment. That Buick engine is nice too but not much power unless you are going to modify it. Anyway you go on the engine it will be good to see the next video with the new engine. have fun.

Good for you! Great to see one stock. Vegas were the best of the Vega/Pinto/Gremlin early 70s econocars. I had a '73 in GT trim, and it was a blast to drive. Handled better than any competition in its price range. Was a Michigan car, and I was lucky to sell it before we all realized how the front fenders trapped salt and rusted out the fender tops from below.
Thanks, I'm having fun with the stock 2.3L 4-cylinder. I prefer the Buick 215 aluminum V8 from a '61-'63 Buick Special/Skylark. But I'm having a ton of fun with this 140. Check out my cardomain site for my other '72 Vega with the 215 in it. Page 4 shows an article showing the virtues of the 215 ALUMINUM V8
Hi Snower. While I am a fan of more power for a Vega, I'm not a fan of the heavy iron (600 lb) small block chevy. It is a great engine, don't get me wrong. But I don't want the added weight up front (300 additional lbs) because I like the curves. I occasionally autocross this Vega. My personal favorite engine for the Vega is the '61-'63 Buick Special/ Skylark ALL ALUMINUM V8.
If you like V8 power in a Vega, check out the 215 ALUMINUM V8 that was in my '72 Vega GT.
On the cardomain website, search for me: bugdewde
You'll see my Vegas (3). Click on the '72. Then page 4 for the article about the 215 vs the 262. 215 wins hands down. Love this engine. I have 3 of them.
@corvettels9 Yeah, the stock pre-76 rear suspension set up is a 4-link design with upper and lower control arms and coil springs. This is a common occurance for Vegas....... mostly early Vegas. The '76-later 3-link setup with a torque arm was an improvement over the 4-link.

Have you ever tried to do a standing burnout without the blocks?
washcloths 2 years ago
Not really. It's chirped a time or two..... and it will spin when raining.... but it's not got the umph for a sustained burnout...... or I don't.
