hey I have been focusing on my right hand a lot more as a guitarist.

I've been playing for 8 years, recently the wrist of my right hand has been hurting.

Is this from improper technique or is it from playing for too long/ too fast?

@y2zgt i am working on a new video that will show a complete exersice session from warmup to scale sweep legato all.About your problem there are several reasons the 3 main reasons i can think from the things u are telling me are incorrect or non at all warmup of the right hand,bad shoulder and wrist movement and last too fast picking for too much time with a non so trained picking hand.just w8 and i ll post a multi part whole exersice session in a few days and all problems will be solved

I agree at the most part of your video but if you hold your pick parallel to the strings all the time it ll get stuck on the strings at high speeds.If you flip it even slightly it ll glide across the strings.Most shredders do it that way mainly cause it works.

@mixerlo your hand must me relaxed BUT fast try moving your wrist up and down fast but without strength u must practice this style until u get it and use it on the guitar.Also playind MUST NOT tire u in less than an hours if u do get tired fast u are doing somethin wrong try relaxing take a 10min break and try pressing the frets with less strength and move your picking hand relaxed but accurate.

You dont have to pick at a 90 degree angle, it depends on the type of picks strings and guitar you use, different picking techniques work differentl with gibson guitars and fenders, due to the difference in tension on the strings. A lot of heavy metal guitars are more designed with less tension and shorter necks like the les paul, and in that scenario, angling the pick actually has proven to be easier in the long run for most guitatists

You don't HAVE to hold the pick like that. Paul Gilbert says to hold it at an angle (bout 45 degree angle). I think that it's just whatever works best for you.

...But as time passed i realized a problem increasing my playing speed. I couldn't play above 140 BPM (16th notes) by no way! My fingers were moving like crazy trying to catch the notes/strings, decreasing my accuracy (i was like "pecking" strings not picking -.-) and my sound wasnt clear at all (its very hard to mute with that panic on your hand)...

Well, i tried to fix it and come back to wrist movement. I find it really really hard. It was like playing for 1rst time... =/

At this point, i can play legato/sweep phrases at top speed but on alternate picking im totally a newb, trying to fix that old little mistake...

So guys, listen up and put attention on every detail while learning. I would be very hard to fix it then. Picking using finger moving demands a lot of experience and its really useful afterwards to grad ultra-high speed using economy picking. But not before that...

theres many types of picking techniques, the one you're showing is for playing hard rock or metal songs. You might want to look up Eric johnson's picking technique also.

when playing guitar and feel pain in part of your body because of playing in unnatural so there is a problem there.there are 2 usual reasons for that pain.

1st bad or none warm up at all

2st bad position and tense in your arm and shoulder

Look if u use some of the advice on this video i think u may get better.i wa thinking to upload so serious right hand exercises because lot of new guys have problem and u just motivated me so w8 2-3 days ans i ll post 3-4 videos with right hand ex. and warm up

well if u like sweeps using the neck pickup (i love it) go for the 81/85 if u solo only with bridge pickup go for the 81/60 because with the 60 u get some nice cleans

I actually like the 85 better for the bridge and the 60 for the neck, and the 81 is very excellent also. I have two esp's one with 85b/81n and 81b/60n .
