Like the tone and playing---I typically don't like odd-shaped guitar bodies but this one ain't so bad--kinda cool---like to hear you play blues on it---I love playing bluesy stuff myself
@hazuinf It would work well for that kind of application. Pair it with a good fuzzbox and you can get an authentic seeds/stooges/ramones tone.
I've sold it now but at the time I thought the strength of this guitar was the bridge pickup. The other positions were ok but i don't think they had enough character for rhythm but maybe that's just me.
Hi, great stuff. Can you tell me what your basic amp settings are? I'm trying to get this sort of tone through my Dano DC and Vox. I've got the Mid turned up all the way but what else do I do? Thanks!
@LzrdKng9000 out of all of them, I reckon the best one is the U2 (single cutaway) followed by the DC2 (shorthorn). The shorthorn is more controlled, not as wild. Definitely look around for a U2. The middle position will absolutely nail the sound you're looking for.
@JohnnyFriendly thanks so much for responding back so quickly. i checked out a bunch of your vids and your guitar playing is awesome and i love your tone.
Cool vid bro, but why play garage through a $1600 boutique combo amp. This goes against everything what garage music is. Kick ass guitar playing none the less.
@TeenageShutdown01 I totally agree with you. Totally. The problem is, if you want to get the sound that the old-timers got in today's world, you have to pay big, either for one of these or a real one.
this is awesome and i love danos... but withe the sweater and background, i coulda sworn this was back in the 70's and u were jamming on an old silvertone (the brand that used to own dano)

@swedeforlife2000 This one's actually peach but I think it looks yellow on some computer displays. They are out of production now so maybe ebay is the best option? This is a reissue - the originals came in only one color (chocolate sparkle or something)
Actually, I'd recommend getting a Jerry Jones instead but that's a whole 'nuther ball game entirely.
@Rogeras32 Ok - depends on how you define "Punk" but basically there was a big garage rock culture in the mid-'60s that came to be labelled as "Garage Punk" around 1972 and that sound became a big influence on the Pistols, Ramones, Damned etc.
So let's just say that the roots of Punk were hatched way back in this '60s in someone's garage/bowling alley in Michigan or somewhere.
@JohnnyFriendly, garage rock/surf etc. - fine, agree. But it wasn't punk =) You may call it protopunk or something. Anyway, great guitar, vintage tone, nice playing!
@tombuttner so if no one did, how can you know it's punk?) lol Let's take The Velvet Underground & Nico (1967). Sounds to me like psychedelic rock, experimental etc. But it's still not punk, man!)
@JohnnyFriendly 'So let's just say that the roots of Punk were hatched way back in this '60s in someone's garage/bowling alley in Michigan or somewhere.'
@JohnnyFriendly Garage was invented in England not america, its all rooted from blues and rock 'n' roll which america shunned untill bands like the stones and the kinks played them making it garage rock,
@foodboom What about the Sonics who were around in the early 60s? Or a gazillion no-name instrumental combos that pre-dated the british invasion? Garage rock did exist in the US prior to the british invasion but the stones/kinks/pretty things etc gave it its primary influence. It would have existed without them but perhaps not as interesting.
I wouldnt categorise the UK bands as garage though. Too professional. True garage rock is sound of the amateurs that tried to emulate them.
@JohnnyFriendly and johnny rotten was an ealry hawkwind freak, he said if their was no (early) hawkwind, there would have been no sex pistols!, who would have thought that huh?

hmm...not sure. Guess you'd have to go back 40 years or so. I'm inspired by Nuggets comps, Remains, Seeds etc if that's any help

Future generations are going to be staggered that we could get such great sounding guitars for such measly outlay.

Basically, all you need is to learn some basic chords, listen to loads of '60s garage records and experiment. The ideas will come.
