only the japanese spec WRX STI have 8000 redline RPM because it boxter engine were 2.0 twin scroll turbocharge other then japan the redline RPM for WRX STI was 6600

I just bought an '08 STI... Couldn't stand the cheap Mitsu interior, or the ridiculously uncomfortable seats... WAY too aggressive for a car that is NOT on a racetrack 99% of the time. Plus, the STI had WAY more balls...

Keep in mind the Evo and the GTR dont compete in rally. Also pound for pound dollar for dollar the GTR G35 out performs any Evo. This is like comparing the Shelby Mustang GT 500 to the Corvette Zo6. On the track the G35 is the better machine. And if the Zo6 competed against the Evo the Evo should take it. The Evo is a great machine but the GTR is that much better. Durring WW2 Nissan planes were better than Mitsubishi. Nissan simply has better engineers. Thats why the Evo is pitched to youths.
The price tag says it all, The EVO is pitched to the youth market. Thats why the interiors made of cheap fall apart plastic that makes most owners afraid to turn the knob on their radio. There is a world of difference between a pony car and a muscle car. For starters muscle cars shoehorn the biggest engine into the smallest frame. Pony cars can and do corner. IMO, the Evo has the same problem with looks that it has always had. It looks cool from the front, but every other angle looks like a boring sedan. In this version, it's worse because I'd have to cut away wheel well just to put larger wheels on it so it wouldn't look like it's rolling on spindles. The proportions of the STI are just right. Swap the grill, replace the tail lights, get a custom paint job, and you're set.

What should anyone care about the look? I used to hate it too, and most of the people who did are already used to it. that's how most car models are. true enthusiasts don't give a S*** about the looks :P, the hatch increases aerodynamic and overall stability anyways so for most thats a plus.

You really have to see the actual car to appreciate the design. I saw the new WRX and compared it to WRX STI, believe me the STI is awesome! it`s like night and day compare to the standard WRX. All the video and pictures you`ve seen online doesn`t justify the real beauty of the STI when you see the actual car.
The comparison between the WRX and STi is true. They are two completely different cars with the STi being a lot stiffer than the standard but it doesn't compare to the 06/07 models. Yet the EVO X is a better drive, I still wouldn't buy one but it is a better drive than the new STi. Believe me, I've tried all 3. I don't think the new WRX will be around for long. Same thing happened with the bug eyed 02 model. It was around for less than a year because of sales drops, thats what's happening now.
Not to sure about the sales drops... Subaru reports show Impreza sales have increased +18% since 03/2008... You're right about 1 thing... The STi and WRX are VERY different from each other... Different Chassis code too... Testing also shows the 08's matching or even surpassing performance figures of the 06/07's (Edmunds review)... IMO it's too soon to tell if this design change is a mistake or not. About the understeer/feedback issues... Nothing a little camber/DCCD adjustment can't fix ^.^

Yes, that they are. 3rd in manufactures standings with Atkinson and Solberg 3 and 6 respectively. But they are still using the 07 car. They won't be driving the 08 car until late in the season. I would think that they could possibly debut the 08 model at Rally Japan as it will have the home ground advantage and just because Japan is the home of Subaru.
YES finally someone gets it, neither is better. It is all about the driver and his/her skill set. An EVO can win or an STI can win it doesn't matter, what matters is that the driver won and not the car. I drive EVO's but have repeatedly been handed my own front bumper by STI drivers. Don't ever assume a car can win a race for you.

Looks=Eye of beholder now a days. I still enjoy 04-05 STIs most. The new STI is pretty sexy but meh. The new EVO I think is ugly, but...it does outperform the STI stock. Least the EVO bumped the interior up.
I agree with you in both cases, I fell in love with the STi for it's looks and performance. Especially the 2001- 2003 models with the bug style headlights. The Lancer looks great very nice design.

I just bought an '08 STI... Couldn't stand the cheap Mitsu interior, or the ridiculously uncomfortable seats... WAY too aggressive for a car that is NOT on a racetrack 99% of the time. Plus, the STI had WAY more balls...

considering that the GT-R is the latest incarnation o the series, perviuosly known as the skyline (which is now on the G series in Japan) the GT-R goes back to the late 80s, while the Evo was purpose created in the early 90s.

Keep in mind the Evo and the GTR dont compete in rally. Also pound for pound dollar for dollar the GTR G35 out performs any Evo. This is like comparing the Shelby Mustang GT 500 to the Corvette Zo6. On the track the G35 is the better machine. And if the Zo6 competed against the Evo the Evo should take it. The Evo is a great machine but the GTR is that much better. Durring WW2 Nissan planes were better than Mitsubishi. Nissan simply has better engineers. Thats why the Evo is pitched to youths.

The price tag says it all, The EVO is pitched to the youth market. Thats why the interiors made of cheap fall apart plastic that makes most owners afraid to turn the knob on their radio. Condiderating hardware, you can upgrade a GTR as much as you can the EVO. This is because they both have race pedigrees. My entire point in this debate is the GTR's is longer and more distinguished. There is a world of difference between a pony car and a muscle car. For starters muscle cars shoehorn the biggest engine into the smallest frame. Pony cars can and do corner. Carol Shelby, when aproached by Ford to tune the 65 Mustang said, "What that secretary mobile?" Because I preffer old cars like the 66 Mustang in no way implies my sexual orientation. I also love the 64 Rover Mini Cooper MK I, what does that say? Could it imply that I am not biased in this debate? Perhaps I'm just more of a purist. These cars predate antilock brakes, computerized yaw and spin controls, they require the driver to think ahead and modulate their own brakes. I am open minded, that is why the Impreza and Evo impress me, they rally race. They can brake and corner as well as they accellerate. Personally I dont like muscle cars as they only perform on a drag strip.

IMO, the Evo has the same problem with looks that it has always had. It looks cool from the front, but every other angle looks like a boring sedan. In this version, it's worse because I'd have to cut away wheel well just to put larger wheels on it so it wouldn't look like it's rolling on spindles. The proportions of the STI are just right. Swap the grill, replace the tail lights, get a custom paint job, and you're set.

What should anyone care about the look? I used to hate it too, and most of the people who did are already used to it. that's how most car models are. true enthusiasts don't give a S*** about the looks :P, the hatch increases aerodynamic and overall stability anyways so for most thats a plus.

I just checked out the new STI and EVO X
today and I really like them both.
You really have to see the actual car to appreciate the design. I saw the new WRX and compared it to WRX STI, believe me the STI is awesome! it`s like night and day compare to the standard WRX. All the video and pictures you`ve seen online doesn`t justify the real beauty of the STI when you see the actual car.

The comparison between the WRX and STi is true. They are two completely different cars with the STi being a lot stiffer than the standard but it doesn't compare to the 06/07 models. Yet the EVO X is a better drive, I still wouldn't buy one but it is a better drive than the new STi. Believe me, I've tried all 3. I don't think the new WRX will be around for long. Same thing happened with the bug eyed 02 model. It was around for less than a year because of sales drops, thats what's happening now.

Not to sure about the sales drops... Subaru reports show Impreza sales have increased +18% since 03/2008... You're right about 1 thing... The STi and WRX are VERY different from each other... Different Chassis code too... Testing also shows the 08's matching or even surpassing performance figures of the 06/07's (Edmunds review)... IMO it's too soon to tell if this design change is a mistake or not. About the understeer/feedback issues... Nothing a little camber/DCCD adjustment can't fix ^.^

Yes, that they are. 3rd in manufactures standings with Atkinson and Solberg 3 and 6 respectively. But they are still using the 07 car. They won't be driving the 08 car until late in the season. I would think that they could possibly debut the 08 model at Rally Japan as it will have the home ground advantage and just because Japan is the home of Subaru.

YES finally someone gets it, neither is better. It is all about the driver and his/her skill set. An EVO can win or an STI can win it doesn't matter, what matters is that the driver won and not the car. I drive EVO's but have repeatedly been handed my own front bumper by STI drivers. Don't ever assume a car can win a race for you.
