  • @NAYSQUID

    teen age riot, sonic youth.

  • What's the name of the song in the beginning?

  • why does she wake up steve? so mean

  • aww so cute 0:14

  • you people crack me up

  • i'm english, i can kinda see the point of wot their saying but still, england has had some really great bands, so i also disagree with them. but hey thats just their opinion and there allowed to say it

  • BLACK POWER!

  • I think its true what they say about english bands especially today in rock music and actually that probably goes for american bands today as well they all sound the fucking same (pop or screamo metal) they might as well become one big band haha the only good bands that are around now have been going for like 20 odd years

    thats my opinion anyway,

  • Steve is such a nerd haha

  • yeah, england are fags--except for Radiohead

  • @redpaul79 What about Joy Division, they were English

  • @nesplayer94 yeah, and them too--and zeppelin, and floyd

  • Comment removed

  • @Johnnyo743 whole nations of fags have been reproducing forever--heard of Greece?

  • Comment removed

  • @Johnnyo743 or how 'bout France?

  • Thats true but the only thing thats keeping them down is the dam record companies because they WANT them to sound like all the rest, good for them for being underground instead of conforming, thats why the older bands are goin independent or home recording.

  • American scene sucks, music now sucks, some old bands are sounding like the news which such "cough" "cough" (pearl jam) but thanx to other bands the still keep their sound and styles. Rip me all you want ITS FUCKING TRUE

  • Yes, "Britain shits on America musically". James Brown. Nuff said.

  • Quite a bunch of akward silences in this interview, vague questions! But Kim looks SO good.

  • thurston and kim still look the same since they started especially thurston and his like what now 56 or something? wtf?

  • He's a funny one. Talking about British artists more concerned about their hair whilst self consciously flicking his little fluffy demi wave. As for Kim. She talks like a copy writer in a marketing company. I still love Sonic Youth though.

  • Britain shits on America musicaly, always has done, always will.

  • he talks about the stalin!, excellant!! any one like the stalin?

  • haha kim "the base is a big instrument" xD

  • kim never talks lol

  • "...Black Power..." Thurston is the man.

  • I say bullshit to all the comments about britain having no 'original' music. I'm British, and I enjoy music from all over the world; the way the industry represents it's music culture does not equate to the quality of the bands.

If you look beneath the surface you will find amazing music everywhere, I know many incredible musicians and bands, and am proud of what we have.

  • That isn't even close to what he said.

  • he was talking about how the music industries function differently and how that has an impact on the groups' sounds.

Their are certainly good bands from britain such as The Birthday Party, Gang of Four, the Who, the Sex Pistols, etc. etc. etc.

  • @PieceofMindmusic Birthday Party were Aussies :)

  • @lebastar oh damn you're so right, and i KNEW that...mustve been stoned when i wrote that comment :p

  • @PieceofMindmusic hahaha..... it happens!!! ;)

  • Supergrass are the best british band and we should be proud of them. 6 albums in and still consistant. If anyone thinks im talking shit check out the live version of there song bad blood on later with jools holland show.

  • dammit, sync this up correctly

  • I don't think its the british bands fault, its the industry over there. But i have to say still most of the original stuff is coming out of the U.S. like it was back then.

  • Interesting, the stuff about the British creating bands out of hype is still true today, lol. (looking at you Arctic Monkeys)

  • I like how they trash NME and the britsh scene. I'm sick of brits tell me how American music is crap! Hell we invent everything good! RockN Roll, Blues, Soul, Jazz, Hip-Hop,Coutry,Electroclash...I mean I like Amy Winehouse but shes not doing anythign original. And Artic Monkeys are just a Strokes rip off...OK i'LL STOP

  • im a fan of all tipes of music from all over the world. but common you cant knock britian......The beatles, Led Zepplin, The Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Queen. you know what im getting at

  • If you really like good music, you dont wine about stuff like this.

  • im not wining im just making a point

  • America does not have the best indie scene, sorry.

  • haha, actually i never really liked amywinehouse, she rhymes too much, and with stuff that doesnt ryhme like something about turkey in her song.

  • I love you Japan

  • give Japan a chance! ;)

  • haha i love the little "black power" lee threw out at the end

  • It wasn't Lee who said that, it was Thurston.

  • Spin is also pretty bad, but NME is the worst

  • I'm British and I agree with them about the British scene. It's even true now- the Klaxons, FFS!

  • haha yeah they are right. An original music act will never come out of England, not while our industry is the way it is.

  • I can see their point for sure, if it weren't for bands in the UK blowing up right away there is a lot of great music nobody would have heard. A few bands did have great music on top of a marketable look. The Clash is one.

  • I hate the NME, make up your own mind about the music you listen to. Zane Lowe is a cock.

  • everyone knows the nme is shit though dont they

  • watch the video of "Thou Shalt always Kill" performed by Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, watch?v=yoN6XfyQsr4

  • Great little interview, but the audio is way earlier than the video.

  • I don't think all British music should be generalized like that, but I love the way they slagged off NME tho.NME is a drain on music. As Simpsons2000 said, NME killed Morrissey, which is like a son killing his dad.

  • Black power.

  • I love Thurston's 'Tastee Diner' sweatshirt...and the fact that they appear to be speaking Japanese!

  • death to nme, nme kills more music than anything,

death to nme and remember drummers didnt kill morrisey the nme did

  • and the NME deserves it :D
