Loved this - as a kid, "It's Wallace?" on KPHO-TV 5 in Phoenix, Wallace & Ladmo liked Ernie Kovacs so much this was their theme song for their Kids TV show. The show ran for 36 years - my kids watched it also...LoL
This version was first used by Ernie as his theme for "TAKE A GOOD LOOK"'s second season (1960-'61), then for his monthly series of specials during the remainder of 1961...including the final one telecast after his death in January 1962.
I remember this when I was a kid. I used to watch Ernie Kovacs. Years later, I heard George Gershwin's Rialto Ripples.. This theme is an altered version of it.
Sometimes I'd watch the Ernie Kovacs Show just to hear "Oriental Blues" at the end. I first saw Ernie Kovacs on TV during a visit to my grandparents' home in East Lansdowne, PA in 1952. They had a Gimbel Bros. 12-in. console (actually made by Olympic). Alone, and w/nothing to do, turned on the TV & here was this mustachioed character with a tongue-in-
cheek sense of humor on a Phila. TV show. Could see he was good. Was glad national TV thought so, too, later on. Daytona, FL was home, then.

Watched Kovacs every morning before school (5th grade). I thought he was the greatest. My mom didn't really get it, but she let me watch anyway.
