This man has as little comprehension of the concepts he propounds, as the vocabulary which he abuses. Another apple reference. I would not be surprised if he was paid by them. Barf. After one minute of Inception and Apple advertising I will not watch this man's opinion again.
@GitsamTeljen Watch JRE#183 with Jason Silva and change your mind. This guy is brilliant. He can't make references to inception or apple? That makes him dumb? What the fuck? Maybe you're uncomfortable for another reason.
this conversation seems contrived and pointless. I came across Silva because of Ernest Becker who was a brilliant writer who hoped by understanding and being honest about human motives we could potentially take some control and make the world a better place. Silva seems to just take little tidbits of other people's ideas and throw them out there with seemingly little reflection or awareness of the challenges and constant suffering cuased by human advancement. seems like all show, no substance
Technology has allways been the only thing that allowed us to overcome problems!
And as technology is evolving exponentially we will soon be able to overcome scarcity and human suffering. But in order to succed therefore we have to get aware of the fact that society is also a technology and must be updated to present day knowledge.
If you want to know how to make the world a better place watch "zeitgeist moving forward" a great documentary with Jacque Fresco the wisest teacher ever lived.
Btw Jason Silva is an awesome and very inspiring Artist ;)
they aren't having a conversation. I'm all about using uncommon words but everything these guys say they pass through a thick vocabulary filter and its just in the way. the words don't come naturally like carl sagan or doug mcguff, its so forced, and the fake smiling just I can't take it I'm sorry I don't know why it makes me so uncomfortable. At least its interesting to listen to abstract speaking but seriously.. could it be any less focused
@eyesopencam This guy has to travel round and repeat this over and over in these talks. It must get old fast. He has to speak quick and use concise esoteric language because its the only way to get the message across. We are talking about something which hasn't been thought about before. Not in the way of being able to do something about it.
...and Sagan was special. No need to compare anyone to him.
Excellent overall! Although I have the following critique:
1) I think at all times it should be kept in mind that optimal/infinite mutual survival is the goal, not awe or beauty, although awe and beauty may be conducive to infinite mutual survival, and infinite mutual survival may be beautiful.
2) To be held in arrest may be conducive to survival if the gains in intelligence from that enlightenment outweigh the time spent.
3) More than functional? I'm not sure that is possible.
@IndomitableSun that's all great n fancy, but I'm sure what you said can be said in a simpler and more accessible form for less evolved human beings like me.
Does anyone know this documentary he mentioned? Couldn´t get the name right :P
